Although I`ve owned each of the 3 Grabber colors,& I love Calypso Corral, one of my favorites was the Pastel Blue on one of my 70 Mach 1`s. It was a very subdued light tint, & even though I sold that car in 86, I still get people coming up to me & saying "do you still own your WHITE Mustang?) AARRRGGGG!!!! It`s not white, it`s BLUE!!!! ( although I must admit it was very light blue, & was called Diamond Blue in 68)

Diamond blue is about as light a shade of blue as you can get. It is even lighter than Arcadian. I saw a 69 cv that color that had a dark blue top and a blue interior. Very nice combo. I was active in selling early cvs. I did a 66 Cv in light blue, I put on a dark blue top. The ist people to answer my ad: A couple drive up in a huge Benz with wipers on the headlights. The lady's first words. Oh my, my favorite color combination. The man says, "we'll take it. I own a trucking co so I'll have a flatbed come get it in the morning. They paid me and left. Fastest sale I ever had. No accounting for peoeple's taste. I personally do not care for red but have done them. They did NOT sell any faster because they were red.

My Pastel Blue 70 Mach 1 had a blue interior as well. It DID look white in bright sunlight, but almost appeared to be a light Robins egg blue on a overcast day. The Ford paint code was N. It seemed to be very rare on the hi-po offerings, as the brighter Grabber colors seemed more in keeping with the bold performance image of the late 60`s-early 70`s. If you have the Dr. John Craft "Boss& Cobra Jet Mustangs" book, there is a nice color shot of a Pastel Blue 70 Boss 302 on page 73. This Boss & my Mach 1 are the only performance Mustangs I`ve ever seen in Pastel blue.

My very, very first car was a diamond blue '69 Lincoln Continental (with the suicide doors). My mummie gave it to me, it was in perfect condition. I had a heck of a time keeping that big boat on the road, but could transport many friends, of course gas mileage was a problem. My sister totalled it, broadsided in the drivers door by a Chevy Impala. She wasnt wearing a seat belt and slid across the well taken care of leather seats, thus saving her life, as the drivers door actually bent the steering wheel, you couldnt slide a credit card inbetween the two. BOOOHOOOOO!

Back again. A little while ago, I saw a new Stang in that beautiful deeeeeeep! Metallic blue. The dark shade. It got me thinking. Imagine a 66 cv in Nightmist blue with a red interior and a white top. If I owned such a critter and put it on the main drag corner, I bet it would sell in a day! In the 40's and 50's cars like Caddy, Buick, PAckard had cvs in dark blue with red leather, pale yellow with red leather, and light blue with red leather. A guy came to cruise nite in a late 30's Packard cv in yellow with red leather. Got more attention than any other that nite. Somehow, the combos dont seems to look good on newer cars or maybe because it's not offered. I do think blue and red has possibilities. According to Kevin Marti they made in '6813 dark blue w/ red interior cv's. 14 diamond blue w/red interior cv's 2 yellow with w/red interior cv's And last.....6 cpes and 3 fastbacks in....... Highland Green w/red interiors!!!!! Put THAT under your Christmas Tree!! LOL!

I don`t know if all the Canadian Sprints came this way, or if it was a regional or even a dealer version. Maybe like the 68 GT/CS vs the High Country Special deal.

An epilog to the flag incident. We had gone to the Dairy Queen to get sundaes. Comming out, the flag, mounted on a plastic pedestal that clipped to the pass. window was ripped off and part of the clip was on the ground. Pissed beyond belief, I discovered that a total of 4 cars lost them with a broken antenna on one. What it appeared to be was a homeless guy who intended to sell them for beer money. This came to light the next day. I bought another one and forgot about it. I know who the guy is and he's brain damaged from alcohol and drug abuse plus homeless. So I'm grateful that I have a car to put a flag on. Sooo, coming home, getting on line was a bad scene. Should have just gone to bed. What brought the Sprint cv to mind was the one that was in repose in a U-pick junkyard, rotted beyond belief. Anyway, that's it, and again, sorry. But Steve, if you had gotten too close to your car you would have had Acapuco Blue!! LOL!

I like the blue color on mine. It's 1987 Ford Truck royal blue with a tint of purple pearl in the final clear coat. The car was Grabber Orange. It also has ghost flame in the hood and ghost pin stipes on the side that fade to nothing after the 1/4 windows. The engine compartment is Black High Gloss Imron. That's too bad about the Sprint convertible. It's only one of 50, you know. They made only 50 Sprint convertibles and they were all used in the 1972 Washington D.C. spring cherry blossom parade. Without going into member's page, there is a M&M person that has one. I've known about the 50 cars from a long time back. The guy here that had one passed away-the car at that time was in bad shape. He drove it a few times but it needed a rear clip. Apparently someone used it to launch a boat by backing a float-on trailer into the salt water. After Manny died, I saw it in a u-pic junkyard, beyond hope. Apparently his widow scrapped it. I told the guy about it and he took it off the registry.Yes, I know your car is Acapulco Blue.

That's too bad. A while ago Deke mentioned seeing one in Maryland that was dying of neglect, too. As you know, those cars are difficult to fix owing to parts plus the bigger they got the harder they became to fix. Reading the article in MMonthly, the fabric is not available. Manny's car still had the original fabric (shot) but an engine in the back seat???? U-pics have uncanny insensitiviy to parts.

A third of those 50 (#42, I think) resides in Norfolk, Virginia. He has a coupe, a fastback and that convertible - all '72 Sprints. He plans to start restoration of those Sprints next spring. Of course, he's been saying this since I've known him Dave, remember Brian? He's on-line now, so I'll have to get him to join us.Carole (empty garage - see post yet to be made) ------------------ 66 Coupe, Arcadian Blue C-code MCA #45106 M&M #501 - got those 501 blues Vice-president Mustang Club of Tidewater https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/ctastang.html
