We are putting together a car show to benifit New York. This show is being put on by the biggest car clubs in the area. The Unified Cruisers,The Northeast Muscle Car Club, The Port Richmond Cruisers, and The Phila. Modifiers. We want this to be the biggest show ever. It will be advertised in the Wildwood NJ. show this weekend where people come from all over the US and Canada. We are asking for everyones support to raise money for NY. The Phila. Modifiers is the oldest Street Rod club in America. For an interesting web site go to www.philadelphiamodifiers.com and click on the car and click on history, is great and so is the rest of the site. They have a lot of ties to clubs all over the US. The show will be on the streets in an Industrial Park at the Headquarters of the Plumbers Union Hall Local 690 at Southampton Rd. and McNulty Blvd. from 10am -3pm Sunday Oct. 14th. It would be nice to see some of you there. Del.,MD.,NJ.,NY are not far so anyone interested can contact me or any of the clubs . We want to show the world we care!!! RAY

Ray and Eddie.
About the "City of Brotherly Love."
This is off topic, but I want to tell you my experience or opinion of your city.

My sister and her young family moved to Collegeville, PA which is not too far from Philly in 1997. Within a year she learned her six year old son had cancer. He was treated at Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia. Working at a childrens hospital myself, I soon learned that CHOPS is among the best and felt confident my nephew would be well taken care of.
In the meantime, my sister learns her LOSER A$$ of a husband has been having a two year affair and has spent thousands of dollars on his mistress all the while depriving his family. But also at this time she has just had her fourth child. She can't work because of all the medical appointments for her sick son and having a new infant and no father to help out.
The people in her town and the surrounding area all jumped on her wagon. They came to her aid with amazing amounts of help during this terrible time. Her landlord lowered her rent, her neighbors babysat and made meals, the teachers at the schools organized fund raisers as did the local country radio station. The community became Santa for her children during the holiday that year. Bags of food always mysteriously appeared on her doorstep. Ian, my nephew was surprised during a Globetrotter's show and taken down to the court to play ball with the stars. When chemo caused Ian to lose his hearing, insurance wouldn't pay for the needed hearing aids. Churches, schools, and others in the community raised money to get them for him. I could list numerous other generous acts that the people of PA did and continue to do for my sister and her family.
I have never seen such an outpouring of love and caring. Her son unfortunately couldn't be cured and received his angel wings in Dec. 99. Afterward, we tried to talk my sister into moving back to Utah closer to family. She stayed and has made PA her home. I am so very thankful for the wonderful people of PA who have taken such good care of her.
Ray, whenever you make a post about your pride in your city, I just have to smile and nod my head. It is a great place!

Joyce

Joyce, I am very very sorry to hear about you Nephew. There is nothing that bothers me more than sick children. When my son was born 26 yrs ago I went to the Nursery to look at him. A young about 20 yrs old father was standing there looking. I asked if one of them was his. He said no, mine was just operated on, had some kind of brain surgery. I don't know if I could deal with something like that and I thank the Lord that my 26 yr old son and my 23 yr old daughter are healthy. I'm so glad that our area made the best of the situation and I know the type of people who live here and would never move from this GREAT CITY. Phila. gets a bad rap a lot because like most cities we have a ghetto and there is a lot of crime there but the whole city is not that way. It bothers me when people turn their nose when I say I'm from Philly at some suburban car shows and that just shows me how narrow minded they are. There are plenty of ghettos in the suburbs also. I am PROUD TO BE A PHILADELPHIAN AND AN AMERICAN. RAY

You joke, Ray...but that is one thing I have told myself I have to have before I die. I have to have a REAL Philly Cheese Steak sandwich.

I have often wondered how a half dozen sandwiches would withstand being overnighted in one of those disposable coolers.

Hmmmmmmmm.

Heh heh heh...maybe I should have posted this response in my thread titled, "Things That Make You Go Hmmmmm"

I'm working on some things for this show. Hope some of you can come. The ones who can't will be sorry. We are getting TV coverage before and during the show also radio. There will be bands and doowop groups and I am working on String Bands. We have distributed 15,000 flyers to other car shows and notified every car club in the Pa Nj and Del. We have a 10 man Police detail to direct traffic. I think this is going to be the biggest car show in this areas history. Hope some of you can make it. Northeast Lincoln Mercury will have cars on display and my son will be our Representitive. So if you see our disply and my son and you are looking to meet me ask him and he should be able to find me. Hope to see you there.

I've spent almost all day trying to get Jerry Blavit {a local PA NJ DJay for oldies for the last 40 yrs} and some Doowop Groups to perform and some Mummers String Bands. I have also contacted all the major radio stations and asked them to plug the show for us. I just hope we have good weather because and event like this is rain or shine.
