Well Ked, that one is not so easy to answer...short story, at my folks house, long story, I spent lots of time fighting with doctors, I never did get cut on, my dad's i-net access is more than dead, (one of the lines under his house must be broken) I spent some time working , some time doing nothing, and some time playing around witht he car, spent some time at the sportscar races.. etc. etc.etc. just "lots o stuff"... Suzy, I love my DSL especially in a lawn chair with a cooler of beverages outside on my patio ------------------ Marcus Audi R8- The new definition of "The Unfair Advantage."

I was gonna ask you about that. How are your eye's holding up? You doing ok? Glad to see you have 'net access again. After your response to the "flare" I sent up awhile back, I figured you would post again whenever you got the chance. Stewart [This message has been edited by Stewart (edited 08-21-2001).]

Stew, my eyes are still in bad shape... My primary care physician (PCP) wants me to have an MRI done prior to surgery as he is on a wild goose chase searching for a pitiuitary tumor. First, he wanted a ct scan done, Well I had made the appointment in May to have that taken care of, the radiologist says that I am too young to do that, and that an MRI would work just as well so my PCP woould call me the next day to set that up instead. After trying weekly to get in touch with him (lots of messags left on voice mail and with his secretary) come early august my opthamologist gets tired of waiting (realizing my time to do this is running out prior to school starting) and we agree to go ahead with the operation. We schedule it as soon as posible (would have been August 16) and finally with 4 days to go the PCP shows up and cancels the surgery, citing that I hadn't had my MRI yet. He tries to make everythign better, by claiming his ability to get the mri scheduled quickly andd still get my srugery done on time. He says his secretary will call m,e back... wait a day and the secretary calls me, she says the great early slot they have is september 10th... I calmly (HA!) explain to her that my classes start august 22nd and that setember 10th is no good. She wants me to hang on and tranfers me to him directly... He comes on the line acting all cool and acting like he is god for getting me into to such a good MRI date.. I not so calmly explain that if he could have removed his cranium from "down there" I could have still been on schedule.. now he acts confused as to my agitation, I let him know I had left more thna 10 messages trying to get this set up back in May when the cancelled radiologist cancelled the ct scan in favor of the MRI. He says he did not recieve a single message from me. He "assumed" I was gettign the run around form radiology. I told him that would have been hard to to do since radiology would talk to me without a referral from him. A referral he never sent... so, to sum it up, maybe december I 'll have a chance at getting my eyes cut on... oh yeah, when he finally sent my referral over to radiology, they called me within the hour and got me slot on the spetmeber 14th... no big hurry, no big doctor bravado, just me asking when they could do it... (apologies in advance for spelling and grammatical errors... I'll fix them when the headache subsides) ------------------ Marcus Audi R8- The new definition of "The Unfair Advantage."

Dude, that truly sux...a Doc that forgets he's there for his patients...damn. There was a time (it was years ago, right after Naomi was born) when Renee was suffering from a physical pain that numerous docs were unable to diagnose (no smart-a$$ comments about me being the cause!! LOL) She was finally referred up to Stanford's Pain Management Clinic. Well, I ended up getting into a verbal sparring match with this doctor because of the way his subordinate had been treating us. Long story short, this doc had an excruciatingly irritating, condescending attitude and he clearly tried to put me in my place. Heh heh heh... After going a couple of rounds with this guy, with him getting increasingly more agitated, I finally looked at him and said, "Look, we're obviously getting nowhere because I'm right and you're never going to admit it, so lets just stop here, and move on to my wife's treatment." There wasn't a hint of sarcasm in my voice either, because I wanted him to realize I wasn't saying it to dig at him, but was instead merely stating a fact. He got the point because his face turned red while he stifled his anger. He finally did the right thing and continued interviewing Renee. Needless to say, Renee and I talked about it and we decided not to pursue treatment with a doctor who's ego would cause him to see his patients as beneath him. Is it possible to find another doctor? Or does your HMO limit your options? Stewart [This message has been edited by Stewart (edited 08-21-2001).]

I am not very limited in my options, and suffice to say, I won't be going back to this particular doctor. He has signed the authorization for my MRI, so unless something is drastically wrong, I have see nthe last of him. The worst part is that he was referred to me specifically from my opthamologist whom I trust implicitly...------------------ Marcus Audi R8- The new definition of "The Unfair Advantage." Stew, Thanks for making the point that I have been trying to flog into Marcus' head for several weeks. Since he lives 2 hours north of this mess, he should just start over up there... they can transfer the records and he can get this straighted out.It is sad, but Doctors aren't service people anymore... they are assembly line workers. They don't care how you are or how you are treated. I broke my glasses, need to get new ones. I called to make an appointment - they scheduled it 2 months out. Day before the appointment, I get an electronic message on my machine.... your appointment is cancelled. I call in, they reschedule, another 2 months.... Scott
