I was thinking about running sce copper gaskets since they are reusable. Is there anything I need to do differently to use them, or can I just get a set and install them the same as any other head gasket? You can see where 3 of the 4 cylinders on the passenger side were leaking into the steam ports. Dad thinks that the stock head bolts couldn't keep the head on the block, so I'll be upgrading to arp head bolts to.------------------ 1970 coupe restored with the help of my dad. 306 with 600 holley, Weiand Stealth intake, headers, mme custom roller cam, harland sharp roller rockers, kb pistons, 10.3:1 compression ratio, pertonix ignitor 2 with matched coil, lakewood bellhousing, 4-speed toploader, and 2.79 open 8" rear. Do you need to o-ring the heads to use copper gaskets, and do you need to silicone around all the holes? Please let me know, I'm going to order tonight if they aren't a hassle to put in.------------------ 1970 coupe restored with the help of my dad. 306 with 600 holley, Weiand Stealth intake, headers, mme custom roller cam, harland sharp roller rockers, kb pistons, 10.3:1 compression ratio, pertonix ignitor 2 with matched coil, lakewood bellhousing, 4-speed toploader, and 2.79 open 8" rear. I would never use copper head gaskets without o-rings and receiver grooves.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,& '04 First SS/MA in the TENS! Well, I ordered a set of victor 3428sg head gaskets as were recommended in earlier posts, not cheap, but probably worth it. I also ordered arp head bolts and fel pro 1262 intake gaskets. All should be here in a day or two. Looks like there is a good chance it will be running again by the weekend! ------------------ 1970 coupe restored with the help of my dad. 306 with 600 holley, Weiand Stealth intake, headers, mme custom roller cam, harland sharp roller rockers, kb pistons, 10.3:1 compression ratio, pertonix ignitor 2 with matched coil, lakewood bellhousing, 4-speed toploader, and 2.79 open 8" rear. Don't forget to torque the top row of head bolts an extra 10ft-lbs... especially since you had troubles blowing the gasket into that top steam hole. Follow ARP's torque specs, not Ford's. ARP's provide 75% of the yield strength, (pretty conservative) so you should be able to go 10ft-lbs over that for the top bolts without any problems.
