A couple of weeks back I bought a small tool box to take to the track in the back of my truck on a weekly basis. I filled it with a small assortment of tools that might be necassary for a "quick fix" at the track; box end wrenches, a small ratchet and assorted sockets and a couple of extensions, a couple of screwdrivers, assorted allen wrenches, a feeler guage, a small hammer, etc.Last weekend, we drove home in a monsoon. Today I decided to check valve lash on the racecar, and since everything needed to do the job is in that box, I got it out, and took it over to the car. I opened it up, and although the box "looks" rain tight, it had a bout an inch and a half of water in the bottom of it and the top tray was also "flooded". Obviously the top isn't rain proof, but the bottom is water tight. So I spent the better part of an hour wiping each tool off with WD40 to remove the rust that had already started forming, then drying each off with a seperate rag before putting back in the box (which of course I had to dry first.)Lesson learned, never assume that something is water tight just because it looks like it should be.

It's not that bad all the time, but last weekend was sure a tough one. I lost first round by .001, so I bought back. I then proceeded to lose second round by .004. Then we got poured on while attempting to get home. And that is what I'm sure filled the box with water. It was just a bad weekend overall. The only good thing was my lights were pretty good (.509, .516, .516, .510.) Too bad they weren't good enough to win any rounds.

"IT WORKED FOR ME": - If you fill a good-quality, trigger-style, quart-size, garden hand spray bottle with fuel oil then spray the tool/parts enough to wet the surface, wait about 15 minutes, then you can wipe the rust right off with "00" steel wool.Ryan

I have to compliment Kid. He takes losing like he does winning. Like a champ. I truly hate to see people who get all mad and act like 4 yr olds who dont get their way when they lose. But KV takes it like a champ. I never saw his disposition change. That makes him a winner in my book all day long. Shell
