One of the small oil pan my dad put in got cross up.I know the hole is deeper then the bolt goes in it.My dad ran a tap up it.I think I can get a longer bolt and catch some treads up higher in the block.Or what else should I do? The new oil pan worked great and the new one piece gasket is trick.Have any of you used one yet? ------------------ SCOOP 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

Ron,One oil pan bolt is not a big deal if you can get a couple threads, if you can't the heli-coil it. SteveW

Thanks Steve that was the other thing I was thinking of doing. The heli coil that is. Have you used a one piece oil pan gasket yet.You dont use any sealant at all on it.And it has alittle metal inserts so you can't over thighten the pan bolts. I sure hope this motor runs ok and doesn't leak.My pops is putting alot trust into me on this one.

Ron,I would first try a stud or a piece of all-thread (threaded rod) to catch as many threads as possible. I would use a nut in that one position. If I wasn't happy with how many threads where holding the all-thread/stud, I would get some JB Weld and cement it into the hole. There isn't a lot of torque required for each bolt when attaching the oil pan.

I've used the one piece gasket on a few different motors, they work very well.------------------ Butch 460 powered 1967 Comet Cyclone 10.271 @ 130.231 Butcher's Home Page "Friends don't let friends drive Chevys"

Buy one of those ARP oil pan stud kits, you want to talk about a good use of money. Those little studs make putting on an oil pan gasket totally worry free.------------------ Jay Kilroy 68' Fastback GT 390 "No such thing as a cam thats too big"

Stud kits kick ass.. its a shame though that the head studs prevent someone from removing the heads without pulling the motor on those early early year cars.
