I want to get 3.55s with traction lock for my 8" rear. I dont want to get an aftermarket posi unit, b/c it doesn't have to be bulletproof, besides, I don't have the money for an aftermarket posi anyway. Also, the factory traction locks will "slip" around turns, right? Anyway, is there anywhere I could get an 8" diff complete with 3.55s or similar ratio and traction lock, besides a junkyard? How reliable would a junkyard rear be? Tryin to save a little cash, but not be cheap.

A small bearing 9 inch trac lock will fit in a 8 inch.I have a friend that has a 3.50 punkin and I have a 3.40 one.You might check UPS and see about shipping.I think he wants $50 for the 3.50.

Hold on here, you're saying a 8in. gear will bolt on a 9in. Traction Loc? I've never tried it, so (maybe) it'll work but, I don't think so!

From all I've messed with and read, I thought the only parts interchangable between 8in and 9in were the 28 spline axles.
