Last week one time only it would not turn over at all,no clicking nothing.I tried to start it about 4 times and on the 4th time it fired right up.I replaced the solenoid last week after that happen. The car has started fine since, until yesterday that is. I went and got a new switch at NAPA today.I'll see if that works. ------------------ SCOOP 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

I got to work today and the went to start my car.The starter would not stop this time at all.I had to use the kill switch and every time I turn the battery back on the starter would go.So I got the new switch in.It seems to have helped so far.Thats an easy job expect for getting your hand under the dash. The new switch feels alot more tight then the old one.You can tell now were the OFF and ACC and run are now.The old switch had alot of dried lube built up in it.Maybe that was the problem? ------------------ SCOOP

Ron,My guess is that possibly over the years, the switching action of the internal contacts shaved off small particles of metal that eventually created an electical path between the run and the start position inside the switch. And if you want to really get your hand in a tight place to change out something under the dash, try changing the light switch out. It is even harder to access.
