Ok, guys and gals . . . it's official!I have joined the ranks of "Ford Racer!" (does someone have to be in the other lane to count?!?) Last night, Alex and I went up to Union Grove and had driving school! We made a few passes with him driving and me riding, then a few more with me driving and him riding . . . THEN . . . the moment of truth . . . MY FIRST SOLO PASS DOWN THE TRACK!!! AND I DIDN'T CRASH OR PEE MY PANTS OR ANYTHING SCARY OR TOO EMBARRASSING!!!!! (Burnout needs some work, but it's coming) I was just .04 off the index, and the track had little to no traction, so I spun really bad. But I got the mechanics of "how to drag race" last night, and a couple of passes under my belt to mull over until next time. But DAMN! That's addictive stuff, that driving is!!!! And I couldn't have had a better teacher! I know I am so very fortunate having the one and only Moneymaker as my coach. Lucky Grrl!! Thank you so very much, Alex! So . . . watch out world, here I come! Really, you better get out of the way, my burnouts end up sideways alot. LOL ------------------ Beth Head Cheerleader for Moneymaker Racing! congradulations Beth! Now you know what mellisa and the rest of us are enjoying when we go out to the track..Sure is better than watching..Unless you have raced down a track watching is not the same, once you have that adiction of racing you watch with a different perspective..I am so happy for you.Bruce

That's great that you drove and liked it. My wife tried my car and was so scared, she wouldn't run it all out. Only half throttle. Now she doesn't have any desire to do it again. ------------------ Ben Grabber Green '70 Mach I 351C 4V Robbin Egg Blue '79 Fairmont 351C 4V

Oh, I won't lie and say I wasn't a little bit intimidated! A 13 sec. car is very slow in our stable, but it's still a fairly fast car.But as scary as it was, it was 10 times that exciting!! I wanted to go again and again and again and again to work on specific parts of the run, but I knew I needed some time to reflect before I would improve much. At this point, my debut in actual racing is supposed to be July 19, but if we don't have time for me to make a few more passes, I will wait. I don't want to embarrass us! Thanks for all the kind words~~your support means the world to me! The happiest and luckiest Grrl,

I dont think there is anything more to add to what other pepole have already said. Congratulations and way to go. It is always exciting when Big Bro. lets me in the seat of ours. Will you be competing in Cedar Falls in August, Beth? Your right, Alex is the best teacher, your learning the driving part, and I am trying to learn the tuning part. Who would have thunk, that he would have all that vast info. crammed into that little body. Oh yeah, Tonys not all bad either(if you can get a moment when he is not talking to someone)

Congratulations, Beth!!! Just wait now until you get in your first round of competition. All those butterflies will feel the size of eagles but you will find out that it is the greatest! All your senses will be at their highest, after awhile you'll almost feed off of the excitement. Hmmmmm..... another Ford driver out there to whoop up on the Chebbies.... Have fun driving your little hot rod! Randy
