'Lifespan' is a pretty open ended description...When is the last time anyone built a serious a** kicker that didn't need a little freshening up long before the odometer turned around? There's plenty you can do to increase horsepower (but could decrease service life), or increase service life (and decrease horsepower accordingly). What ring package are you looking at? 3/16" rings (stock width) weigh a ton and make alot of power-robbing friction, but last a long time. 1/8" rings are lighter, seal more effeciently, and don't last as long. High or low tension rings? Tight or loose tolerances? 5500 rpm or 8000+? Lots of variables, and they all factor in ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

I've got a set of 289 heads and a set of 302 5.0 E7TE heads for sale. Both are in good physical shape but would recommend they be gone through by a machine shop.$50 for the 289 heads $100 for the 302 heads [email protected] Erik ------------------ 1966 Ford Mustang 2+2 Mine - Restomod in Progress 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe Dad's - Original Unrestored

My machine shop told me ther is 2 ways to build a performance engine.Either runs fast for 100k miles or runs real freakin fast for 10k miles.By the way I picked the 2nd one.
