Got my fuel line hooked up today after my carb/intake/spacer install, and the carb is idling insanely fast, i have no tach so i cannot tell exactly but i would guess around 2000, so i shut it down fairly quick. Is this the fast idle of the carb or something i may have done wrong with leaky vaccum or what?

The intake is a rpm air gap and the carb is a 670cfm holley, with a 1" 4 hole spacer, on top of an otherwise stock 351W

What kind of throttle linkage do you have.My 65 when I put a spacer on it moved the rod just enough to push idle up.Adjusted rod to not pull on carb. linkage at idle. You should have a tach and I hope your running temp. and pressure gauges as they relay vital info from your engine.

Dumb question but, do you have the return spring hooked up?

Are you sure the carb was closing all the way,or maybe the choke or fast idle was stuck on

Is your carb sealed around the base. I put a new carb on once and the gasket was crap. Didn't seal around the base and it idled to the moon.

it's a new intake and a new spacer, and all new gaskets, so i would think it should be sealed.

Where can i get a throttle ball deal to connect the throttle cable to? I cannot get the one out/off my old carb

I also had this problem and it turned out to be the carburetor gasket. Ended up going through 3 of them before I just bought gasket material and made my own. Might be worth another look at yours.

You can get the carb balls at any big speed shop near you.
