borrowed this from another drag race site!!"Got run over from behind last weekend in the pits,as I was headed to the restroom by 8, yes eight, 10 to 13 year old girls piled on a four wheeler. Never heard e'm coming. Surgeon says major bone reconstruction in my lower leg, held together by a steel plate. Possible damaged vertabrae in lower back.Twelve to fourteen weeks in a brace coupled with many more in rehab. No one that was there that day has called to check on my condition. Thank God for Percocet. Looks like my Summer is pretty much planned out. Folks, If you take these things to the track, dont let your kids use it as their personal playground!!! Luckily none of the little girls were hurt." sounds like a lawsuit about to happen!

I see that sh*t all of the time. KIDS on golf carts and ATV's driving like animals. If you say something to the parents most tell you to mind your own business and they are just blowing off some steam. I guess that's what the teenage girls were doing north of us during the hazing deal too. That really sucks Mike.I've just recently got into the sport of Atving and hope to have my little guy racing one soon. You constantly hear of the stupid way that people injure themselves on these things, riding drunk,no helmet, the list goes on and on.This is the first time I've heard of a pedestrian being run over though.Where were these kids parents?I don't know how they could make it up to you, there probably isn't a way,but at the very least they could show some concern for your condition A good heartfelt "I'm sorry" from them all might be a start, although it won't replace your pain and suffering and a whole summer lost.------------------ 1968 mustang j-code sprint.13.69@101 306cu.in, stock ported heads, weiand exellerator,650 holley DP,hedman hedders, comp 292 Magnum cam,4-speed,8 inch 4.11 detroit locker http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/mustangboy.html

That's one of them rules that tracks NEVER enforce. I have yet to be at a track that doesn't claim they have a rule that does not allow anyohne without a drivers license to drive any motorized vehicle. But I have also never seen it enforced. Perhaps if the tracks would enforce the rule and make the consequences severe to the parents (throw them all out without a refund and take away any points earned at that event), maybe then the irresponsible parents would pay attention to what thier spoiled kids are doing. But, we all know that wont ever happen.

If the track itself was sued for not enforcing the rules, it may be a wake-up call for them. Parenting does not stop when you leave your front door, that is why we have so many spoiled brats out there in the world that only get a "time out" or a "lets talk about your feelings speech ". Reminds me of when I saw a Jr Dragster come wheeling around the corner in the pits and dang-near was crushed by a racecar pulling out! Those things are soooo low and most of the folks let their kids drive them rather than be towed back,,,, this kid was just plain LUCKY not to get hurt - unlike the frontend of his flattened Jr Dragster!

Sad Story. Just think if it was kid that this group of girls ran over. The consequences could have been even higher. People dont understand the danger over loading an atv can be. We have one and both my boys ride them, with respect, although they are both under the age restriction. But NEVER at the track. I get on my sons when they bring their bicycles. At the track I raced Sunday, I saw a ton of Jr's driving themselves back to their pit. NOT a very safe thing at all. No one seemed to even notice or care. Shell

I was listening for the last call for ET-1 for our final time run saturday night. The announcer said speed limit in the pits is 15 MPH. I saw several four wheelers with both kids and adults flying through the pits.A few years ago there was a young girl around 12 that was killed at Huntsville draway just running between the trailers into the path of a dragster going way to fast in the pits. I will never forget that night. Terrible

Man! That really is a suck story! Sorry to hear about someone getting jammed up like that, and he was only trying to have a good time at the race track! My stomach gets in a knot every time my wife rolls away from our pit on her Yamaha scooter. Not that she's fast, or unsafe...not at all. Just that accidents happen and I don't want her hurt, or anyone else...and I definitely don't want to have to worry about trying to reimburse somebody for there couple'a grand in "custom" paint or something, if her scooter ever connected with a race car! Yikes! ------------------ Kaje KJ JONES Racing Reseda, CA [This message has been edited by KJ JONES Racing (edited 06-05-2003).]
