I know we touched on using an electric water pump earlier. I was wondering if their would be much of an advantage to changing to electric fan over a stock type clutch fan on my 428. I run 12.1 currently.

The electric fan pulls more air at idle, and free up some HP too. I think a good clutch fan and shroud might move more at cruise speed.Because electric fans draw alot of amps you need to make sure your alt is up to the task.------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

My car originally came with air conditioning so it had a heavy duty flex fan that made it sound like an International school bus I switched to an electric fan and noticed a huge difference in low end power,However my fan belt was constantly squealing(tried all the tricks and could not make it stop) and the car ran quite hot.I ended up putting on a thermostatic clutch fan and it ended all my problems that I was having with the electric fan and I still seemed to have the extra power over the stock flex fan.The clutch fan takes zero HP to turn as long as its below the temp where it locks up.------------------ 1968 mustang j-code sprint.13.69@101 306cu.in, stock ported heads, weiand exellerator,650 holley DP,hedman hedders, comp 292 Magnum cam,4-speed,8 inch 4.11 detroit locker http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/mustangboy.html

You can find electric fans real cheap out of old taurus' engine bays, cheap and easy. I have heard from some that they free a good chunck of horsepower, and others say minimal. I see it as more of a luxury than anything else, but definitely cool to have. (no pun intended)Paul ------------------ 1970 Grande H code 351W FMX

Those taurus fans suck a huge amount of power to get going. You will have to upgrade your alternator if you street drive.Don't forget most of these old mustangs only had 35 amp alternators.Check this out http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2003/02/electricfan/index.shtml------------------ 1968 mustang j-code sprint.13.69@101 306cu.in, stock ported heads, weiand exellerator,650 holley DP,hedman hedders, comp 292 Magnum cam,4-speed,8 inch 4.11 detroit locker http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/mustangboy.html
