I got my new TCI convereter Friday and installed it last night. After a few finishing touches this morning I was up and running again. The good news is the new converter doesn't leak!!! I did put in a fresh seal again but I and 99% sure it was the converter. Man that was a painfull process.

Now for the bad news, I went to the track and ran the car. I was down right dissapointed. The car's 60' was 2.04 not great but far better than the 2.4 I was doing last year, but I ran slower in the 1/4!!! My fastest run was 14.146, last year my last run was 14.008. The car feels much better on launch and I NEED the drag radials. Last year I could barely spin skinny street tires this year I would never leave the line with them. From what I could tell wheel spin was not a problem with the Drag Radials.

I put in a converter, 1.7 rollers, an X pipe, and an MSD this winter. Of which the converter was the biggest PITA as you may know. After all that, I run slower, what gives???? I think I have a way to go with the Carb yet but we're not talking that far. I'm thinking bigger cam (which will mean 1.6 rockers), something like the 282s.

Have you checked out Ballerz68 thread?

Check and make sure your throttle plates are opening all the way when the pedal is pinned.

Is your car in the same state of tune it was when you ran your best time?
You picked up .36 in your 60's and lost .10 i dont get that.
It makes me think some thing is not tuned right.Nice job on the 60's and glad it's not a leaker anymore.

The state of tune should be pretty close as last year. I did change squirter size to help with a stumble problem, but that shouldn't make much difference.

I think I may know what the problem is. My old converter was a non lockup, the new one is a lockup converter. The AOD does some sort of 60% lock up deal in 3rd and 100% in OD. I think the 60% lock up is costing me on the top end. That and the Drag Radials are quite a bit taller than the tires I ran last year. With 4.62 gears I wouldn't have thought any of this would have been a big deal but I guess it is.

I still think the car should be faster than 14.1, it should be in the 13's. I know when I hit the button it will be in the 13's but I was hoping to be into the 12's. Guess not.

I agree you should be faster. What were your MPH last year and this year both. That will help show power.
I dont know how a lock up would cost you to lose time.It seems like it would be better with it.And your taller tire change and gear change you should still be faster.
Somethings not right, and I'm not smart enough to know what it is.

Erik your a young man what in the heck were you doing up on here at that hour.

Dont they sell an aod delete that locks out your overdrive and lock up tq. ? I thought buaman and B&m make one..also is your fuel pressure dropping to low when the demand for fuel is high..that would cause great 60 times and slower 1/4 times mph..Bruce

That Lock Up lock out would be for the AODE not the AOD. The E was too much money for me. I found out that the B+M converter was a LU type too, so that is not my problem after all. Also upgraded the valve springs and retainers this year, I wonder if it was actually a down grade? I put in the trick flow set for 5.0 heads. I had 2 pc retainers and wanted to go to stronger 1 pc.

I'm starting to wonder about the fuel system. I did redo the fuel lines from the fuel pump to the carb this year. When I did so I put in a new fuel filter. It's possible the new fuel filter is more restricive than the old. I think I'm going to pull it and run without it and see what happens.

Tire spin didn't seem to be a problem.
