Should I make my plug gap bigger with the duraspark system and the blaster2 coil.

Also I put the dist,in right well I'm 90% sure it's right.
The vacuum advance sits more to the drivers then the old dist would at the same timing mark?
Do the duraspark dist line up different some how ?

Thanks

One last thing always make sure you put the number spark plug back in the motor. Before you try to the start the motor.

If you have upgraded to a better system it is always worth trying a bigger gap. May make a tick more power or may just give it better manners like easier starting, smoother running etc.
Re-the dist. No two distributors will be the same so anytime you change one, it will likely sit slightly different from the original and will need to be strobed for accuracy at full advance. HTH

I think if you miss the original position on the gear drive by one tooth that would make it want to be rotated but that should be a significant amount. Perhaps the gears are not always put on the shafts exactly the same. Anyway so long as the timing is right and there is nothing interfering or rubbing then it should be fine.

Ok I can understand how all dist would be alittle different.

How about the plug gap.I run a .35 gap now I was reading some info on the durasparkII system. It said to take full advantage of the system to run a wider gap.
And my MSD blaster coil said that too.

Is this a case by case thing were as each motor likes something different?

ron for mostly street i run my gaps at .045 and i use low resistant plug wires..the wider the gap the more it powerful your system has to be to keep up with the load demand of your plugs. Happy motoring...Bruce

I use .035 no matter how powerfull the spark. You're sure to get a good flame kernal no matter under all conditions.

The purpose of increased plug gap on an electronic ignition system is increased burn time and flame travel for emission purposes.
