I love the sound of Flowmaster 2 chambers but they are waayy too loud for every day use in my opinion (especially in my suburban neighborhood). So I was told that the Flowmaster 3 chambers offered the same type of sound just a little quieter. What I want to know is how much quieter? I still want to be able to hear it and get a level of sound. Then I was told that the Dynomax Super Turbo was another decent muffler that wasnt too lound. Which is louder- Superturbo or Flowmaster 3 chamber? Which offers better sound? Just looking for opinions to influence me on my future exhaust system.

I just put on a set of Dynomax Super Turbos. It is the 3 inch large body 5 1/2 thick by 11 wide model on my Mustang. ( The regular 4.25 by 9.75 models don't have a 3 inch internal tube) I have turn downs before the axle. it is pretty quiet. It has resonance at about 900 rpm but other than that it is very quiet compared to my brother's 2 chamber delta flow Flowmasters. I don't know about the 3 chamber ones though.

Paul,
Most folks claim that installing an H-pipe ahead of the mufflers will quiet the sound down some.... Are you planning on using one?

I will use an H-pipe because I really haven't heard anything negative about them whereas I have heard negatives about no connecting pipe at all. Right now, I'm liking the Flowmaster 50's, I'm just afraid that the super turbos might sound a little too quiet. I do know that the Flowmaster 3 chambers are bigger than the 2 chambers. Has fitting the 3 chambers been a problem for anyone? I don't assume it will be.

Oh yeah, I love how you guys say the 50's have a cool mellow idol, but really wail at WOT- that sounds like alot of fun.

My 3 chambers are too loud also.

Personally, I think loud exhuast on a street car sounds like crap. It's as if people are trying to make something that isn't fast, sound like it is. I feel it's better to speak softly, but carry a big stick. It's more embarrassing to get outrun by something that's as quiet as your grandma's car.

I have the super turbos they seem to flow real well but the sound is what i would consider quiet, you can hear it but it doesnt sound "manufactured" if you know what I mean.
