I have some questions on it.
I know I always have questions. It's from a 77 LTD that was the only car there with a 351w in it.I got the dist and control box and wires.I took the coil from an 80's van that had a 351w in it but no box or coil. Will this work together. Also the dist was sitting with no cap or rotor for some time. It's alittle rusty around wheel thing and the pickup.Should I just clean it up,or go get a reman, from napa for $50.
I was thinking the reman would be better.
Does it matter what year dist I get or will any 75-80 do?
Also my set up has the full 12+volts going to the coil. Will this work with the duraspark?
Bruce sent my some wiring how to's from the mustangSteve sight. Is that how most of you hooked your up?

Would the MSD 6A box and blaster coil work good with the duraspark dist, and do I still use the duraspark control if I go to this set up?

Thanks for the help.

yes your coil you have will work as long as it is not for points but the factory one is not bad also your combo of parts are fine..Try some emery cloth or krokus cloth to clean it up befor you do the remanufacture thing...Bruce

Should I take the distributor apart and check the weights before I run it?
How do I clean up the contact on the pick up.

If you go with a MSD you can dump the Duraspark box. You can use it to fire the MSD box but you don't need to, so why. I had timing issues with my Duraspark box. Using the dist pu coil to fire the MSD I no longer have the problem. When you pull up the plate to check the advance weights you can see what the total advance of the distributor is, it's marked on there, you'll see it. There are two slots for mechanical advance, one is more than the other, go with the lower one. You can flip them and use either one.

As for the wirign I got my diagram from Fletchs 5.0 Carburated Mustangs web site.

Ron if you can find a great shape duraspark on a 302 you can use that pick-up coil and stator.the only dirrence is your 351 is longer and uses a differnt size oil drive shaft..Bruce

Your really a glutton aren't you.
I will take it apart tomorrow.I dont have any books showing how to get it all apart. So I'll just have to guess at it.

How do you remove the pick up part from the dist?

Thanks for the help to you all.
