For the first time this year, I won during the first round of competition. About time. I was getting discouraged. I only managed to go 3 rounds till my worst light of the day coupled with the car running off by .017 caused me to lose by .001. I knew I should have dialed up one before that r ound, but, hindsight is always 20/20. Just because I feel compelled to waste badnwidth , here are my passes. First pass (time trial), 6.339, .522 light. Next pass, .514 light, 6.341. First round of elims against track champion from 2 years ago, .504 light, 6.365 on a 6.33 dial. I won, luckily. There must have been something on the track as the car turned hard right and spun the tires terribly at the hit of the tires. 2 cars ahead of me did the same exact thing. Luckily, my opponent had a .540 light, so I did win that round. Second round, I dialed up one to a 6.34, had a .507 light, and coasted to a 6.46 win (I was supposed to leave last, but his light was so late I left before he did). Next round, the humidity was terrible (90%), and I debated seriously about going up one more on my dial, but for some reason didn't. My light; .538 , ran 6.357 on a 6.34, lost by .001. At least I didn't have to buyback, and managed to go a couple of rounds, even if they were more luck than skill. If it doesn't rain tomorrow, I think I will go to again to a track that's a little closer.

good job! I just got back from the races and lost in the third round as well. Oh,well the guy I raced cut a .504 light with a 11.601 on an 11.60 dial! Tough to beat. I cut a pretty decent .512 but broke out. Even if I ran my number dead on with a "0" I still would have lost due to my "poor" light! Still had fun and ran another personal best of 11.83------------------ 351c 4v clsd heads 60'1.580 1/8 [email protected] 1/4 [email protected]

--- (1) Went racin', (2) won a few rounds, and (3) you didn't break ANYTHING! It's nice to be able to say, "I think I'll go racin' again tomorrow" instead of saying, "Does anyone know anyone with a spare Cleve' block?" GOOD JOB, KV!! I wish you even better luck today!! Ryan

I wish I could say I did do better, but the car didn't cooperate. My 60' tiems were as consistent as normal, but the et from halftrack on moved around a bunch today. I did manage to got 3 rounds, but it wasnt pretty. First time run, 6.331. Cool, exactly where I left off from saturday. Dash for cash pass (2nd time run), 6.361. Luckily the dash was reaction time based and I did win that. First round of elims, 6.353, second round, 6.361, third round, 6.495 (on a 6.35 dial). Ugh! My car doesn't normally vary that much in et (at least not in an up and down fashion such as that). But, a lot of people had the same problem today, so it was either downtrack traction, or the "air" doing it.
But, I didn't break anything and had fun so it was a rather successful day.

Great job Kid.. You know I was pulling for ya.. I also want to say a BIG Thank you to him and KK for rescueing me. I was workin on a real nice asthma attack there. I got a nice lung full of smoke/co2/something right before 2nd round. and luckily those two helped get me calmed back down and donated a COLD bottle of water to the situation and I made it to the lanes for 2nd round. Thanks guys!! Shell

After thinking about the "problem" a little, I think there was water seeping thru the asphalt downtrack causing the erratic ET's. I had overheard one of the owners talking before the race saying how they had sucked over 6 gallons of water out of the cracks with a shopvac in the first 60' of track before we ever started. I bet my problem (and everyone else's) was due to water seeping back thru the asphalt due to the heavy rain we got the night before.
