Last night I decided to take my brothers 65 coupe to the Thursday night thunder street night at the local dragstrip. I was running pretty consistent and before I knew it I was in the quarterfinals. Then I got a by run to the finals and was put out by a 340 duster that ran a 8.35 on a 8.25 to my 9.90 on a 9.75. I had no traction on that run. But I had a blast. I cant wait to go back.

The supsension is all stock with a set of lakewood traction bars. My 60fts were 2.3 so I need to work on the traction part. I'm launching at 4000rpm with a 2step. I think I'll try a 3500 pill in it the next time I go so I dont spin as much. Any other suggestions?

Consistancy is the name of the game. Hit your dial in with consistant lights and 60s and you will continue to have fun. As Scoop mentioned, if traction is still a hit and miss thing, work hard to fix it. Something as minor as tire pressure can mean the difference between spinning and not spinning. Sounds like you did good and had fun. Congratulations!

I took my 92 coupe this past Saturday to the track to run in the DOT class. The car I had to race in the first round I had to spot him 3.5 seconds. I ran a 8.53 on a 8.50 dail in. He ran dead on his number in his little thunderbird.------------------ 65 mustang drag car, 302, Elderbrok torker intake, Holley 650 double pumper, Comp cams .592 lift, 289 heads w/ 351 valves, longtube headers, narrowed 9 in. rearend w/ 5.86 gear, 31 spline axles, c-4 w/ Hurst shifter, ladder bar suspension, 31x13x15 slicks, 6 point cage
