 | posted 05-11-2003 06:00 PM I'm running a locked out MSD distributor, and a Crane HI-6 box. Why does the timing retard 4*s at higher rpms? Higher is like 3000 rpm... Timing chain too loose?

The first two runs last week were at 28* timing. I thought I had it backed off to 32, but not with the extra retard. SteveW IP: Logged |

 | posted 05-13-2003 10:57 AM Mine did the same thing 2 years ago..... Chased it for months. It was the timing chain also!!!! Put a new one on and the problem went away..... I talked with MSD about setting timing with the distributor locked-out and got 15 different answers?? I set mine @ 5500 so I'm way past the overlap of the camshaft.. my .02!

Before I went to a belt drive I used to set my timing at 7k RPM.
