When you see a Ford out-perform the high dollar brand X stuff.Took the dragster to the track last night. This was the first time out after getting the converter fixed due to a slipping sprag. Made sure I didn't hurt the converter again. Did short little burnouts. Even got stopped before the starting line. Didn't have to back up. The car loved it. 4.93 @ 140.6 w a 1.10 60 ft in the 1/8 After that it didn't matter as much that I got beat 1st round. Had a .512 light and went 4.937 on a 4.93 dial. Not too bad, but the problem was the other guy had a .501 and went 6.320 on a 6.31 dial. Hard to beat that. After that I wandered around staging and the pits. Got to noticing all the big name high dollar engines on many of the dragsters. Prob 25 dragsters last night. Most were BBC. Saw many names. Shaifroff, Reher & Morrison, Bill Mitchell, etc. High dollar engines for sure. Only problem was that all but one was slower than mine. (600+ Reher & Morrison was running 4.73). Made mr feel pretty good about the ole BBF. Nothing exotic here. 557, Blue Thunder heads, roller cam, your everyday Scat 4.5 crank with dished pistons. Victor 460 intake and a single toilet. Life is good. Later, David Cole

I see alot of that in Memphis too. For some reason ( even among Ford folks ) everyone thinks it takes alot of cash to make these big 385 series torque monsters run. There isn't alot of them at the tracks but I see it proven wrong everytime. A low dollar BBF will run with the best big bucks motor of any brand. They always walk over and look at your set-up and laugh and say " I bet you have 30K in that Old ford mill huh? then they laugh and accuse you of lying when You tell them no actually it's less than 8K. Look at Inbred jed's car's times, Look at bob carr's ( cracing ) Pretty good I'd say, for low buck motors. Some folks just can't get a clue David. JS Calls em like he sees em.

I do it all the time, and it is FUN! It's good to see you got your convertor prob figured out and it's running well. The guy I had in the first round yesterday had a .506, and ran a 5.896 on a 5.89. That's tuff to beat also, especially when you're .015 over like I was.
