Why is it that my dip stick that said it is made for 302-351w.Shows way above full why I I put oil in it.I drained and refilled the oil with 5 qts. It's about a 1/2inch or more above the line that says MAX.I just made a new mark, but dont under stand why it's not right. My old one was the same way.PS. Thanks Alex for your help on getting the old one out,and new one in.Seems like an easy job now,but when it's your first time dealing with it. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs "Why do people who know the least know it the loudest?" 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

The filter holds a fair amount of oil,5 quarts should be with a new(empty)filter. The first time you start after changing oil and filter the level will be lower than before you turn it over. ------------------

Why are you talking about batteries now? I thought you were having problems with your dip stick . Did you check to see if the receiver for the dip stick has been shortened? Had that happen to an old ford wagon my dad had and it showed it as over full all the time. Also check to see that the little cap on the dip stick has not been pushed all the way to the top of the dip stick. Scoop,If you have the old pieces measure them and see where the difference is from? If not, you know the capacity. Just make a new mark and remember it. It may be the same length but just marked differently. I hope you get your car squared-away soon. Joe

It's a new Ford Racing dip stick and chrome tube. The one new is the same lenght as the old one was.And the old never showed right either.Just wondering if anyone else as had this happen too. John, battery, headers, dip stick, parts are parts. Nothing seems to fit right anymore.

Scoop,It happened to me with an aftermarket piece. If you know the oil capacity, with whatever pan you have, I don't see any real problem after you learn the proper indicating spot on the dipstick. Joe
