I will give everything I have so far.
1. stock 351w out of a mid 70's torino
2. gt40 heads
3. hooker supercomp headers
4. torker 2 manifold
5. c4 trannie, no stall converter yet? any
suggestions on that?
6. going with a holley double pumper, but
what size?
7. What brand and size cam should I go with?
8. my gears are 4.11 detriot locker

My car is a 66 stang with a totally modified fiberglass front end, fiberglass doors and fiberglass trunkdeck. I have shelby overrider bars and traction bars. I know, u dont need both, they were both on the car when I bought it. The tires are bf goodrich radial t/a's size 15 X 10

Am I up too a good start? What suggestions do u have for a rookie?

looks good so far, what year of torino did you pull it from?? what's the comp?

Comp Cams 270 seems like the most popular cam here

i'm thinking a 750 cfm carb, but i have a 670 on my 351

I wish I knew the compression but I am not sure. It was taken out of a 76-77 grantorino.

that would be a low compression engine (like mine), but that would change with your aftermarket heads. I would suggest running a compression test asap. If your compression is low it will hinder you from running the biggest/best carb possible for your setup.

What will the car be used for, mostly a track car, street strip, or daily driver??

Ignition upgrades are suggested on fords as they had not so great ignition systems (i think you can swap out one from a chrysler)

if it's mostly street, i would say the 270 would be really good, that's what i am going for as well. It will allow you to use the stock converter which makes it very streetable.

for more compression you can mill the heads or get new pistons.

I am going with a MSD 6al ignition, although you can find a used chrysler one they seem to be a popular swap as they were much better than fords...

can't remember where i read about that swap, so i'd ask someone else about it as well, but it would be alot cheaper unless you think you need the msd box

I'd go with the 270h cam,but call Alex he can help you out, and a 650DP.But I do think a 750VS would be better.
Stall a 2200-2500 stall would work good.
76-77 should be about a 8.5 compression,and HP around 180 stock.

My book as a 73 at 160BHP.
Once they dropped the compression it really killed the HP.
