My brother was looking at a pair for $400 on ebay that are ported. The item is #2407737202 He was going too put them on his 302. He doesnt have alot of money too spend on heads if he wants too keep working on his car and he figured they would be a upgrade over his stock heads. I said I would ask here.

I don't know anything about these heads except that they are the 86 Mustang heads that did not work very well in stock condition. Ford only used them one year and switched to a better design. What I don't know is how well they respond to porting. If I was buying I would hold out for a better design as a starting point. If you keep watching e-bay you will find gt-40 heads from time to time. They usually go between $400 and $550. These are the heads used on 93-95 Cobras and Lightenings. They have completely different ports than the other 5.0 heads and work pretty well without porting. The GTP heads have essentially the same ports but have header issues. John

I'd argue that point a little bit John. CORDOVA, Ill. - Final order after 3 rounds of qualifying in Earl{s Stock at the Hooters IHRA Drag Racing Series, 6th annual Amalie Oil Summer Nationals:

Alex I've always wondered how that Capri runs so good with heads that are universally slammed in every printed evaluation I have ever read. Of course I know that any savvy racer has ways (legal) to make heads work better. And I am sure you would not do any of the many illegal ways to improve heads. If you don't mind, how good are the heads compared to say the E7's.John

When you know what you are doing (as you do John)they are better within the scope of the NHRA rules. Allowable aftermarket valves and a very, very special valve job along with the highest compression of all the HO 5.0 302's makes for a potant package. We make almost as much HP as any of the best non Cobra 87 up HO's in stock eliminator. If we had the 87-up upper and lower intake, 60mm TB and spacer we would make more than the 87 up. (the 86 is only 57mm)------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked."
