What are they for? Are they a good investment? Give me the run down. Yes, I am a rookie!

A cool transmission is your friend. A cooler is a good investment on any trans, but becomes most important on a trans with a higher stall converter because of the extra heat generated.------------------ Ben Grabber Green '70 Mach I 351C 4V Robbin Egg Blue '79 Fairmont 351C 4V

RON, Where would you mount the tranny cooler on my 65 fastback I am going to install one, I would like to mount it where I have fairly easy access, but it is well hidden. I know I am asking alot, but that is why you get the big bucks JOHN ------------------ 65 2+2 FASTBACK 87 TAURUS WAGON 98 F150 XLT TRITON V8 4.6, 4 WHEEL DRIVE Member:Vancouver Island Mustang Association M&M #1710 MyPhotoPage MY TRUCK

John they a real small trans cooler that can be mounted to the frame or any where. Look at this one, http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=10617 John on your car I'd mount a small one in front of your rad on the lower part. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

I have two, both B&M Super Coolers. On two different cars of course. Don't hide your cooler, put it in the airflow. SteveW

My trans cooler has three coils,it's 7" by 12" and mounted in front of the radiator. Really doesn't look that good there but I think I get the best results being mounted there.

Put mine in the upper left corner of my '69. Fabbed a couple brackets and it looks like it belongs there. Used -6 steel braided hose from the tranny to the cooler.

I put my automatic trans coolers on a table at the swap meet!As long as I have 2 legs, I really see no reason to have such things. ------------------ 78 Fairmont 428 4 speed 10.20@130mph 80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph 85 Mustang NHRA Stocker under construction, 302 5 speed 59 Meteor (Canadian Ford) 2 dr sedan 332, auto 74 F350 ramp truck 390 4spd

Transmission coolers aren't really needed, sure the Winston Cup guys use them ,but unless you are running flat out for hundreds of miles a manual tranny just doesn't need one. Slushboxes can use 'em, but who'd have one of those?
