Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Chigago racer/ engine builder Ted Borowski died yesterday of massive heart attatck. Ted went to chiropractor after complaining of a backache and later dies of massive heart attatck. I think he just turned 60. Ted leaves wife Sharon. No info on wake or funeral yet. More bad news. Racer/ engine builder John Lingenfelter after recovering from coma from his crash underwent final surgery to fix his neck but the anesthesiologist screwed up, leaving John brain dead. Currently he is still on life support but its just a matter of time before they "pull the plug" because of no brain activity. I beleive he was already pronounced clinically dead. This is a great loss of knowledge, racers and friends. ------------------ 69 fairlane 351w 12.94@103mph before M&M.. after?? always in search of more HP and faster ET'S Fstln69 Pics Page

As a kid I grew up around Chicagoland drag racing. Ted Borowski's name was on many of the fast cars in the area. I have had several dealings with him over the years, all positive. He was a good machinist and sold product at a fair price.John Lingenfelter and I have crossed paths many times as he was one of the top S/SS chebbie engine builders of all time. Even as the driver of the Summit Pro Stock truck he always took the time to come over to the S/SS pits and vist with his old friends. I'll miss both men. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Shake Rattle and Run was Dick Messina's car John, not Ted Burowski's. He was from Calumet City IL. The car was sold at a Gov't auction.

I forgot about the Pro Mod style car. I was never impressed by that one. The original one was always the "cool" car. Bill Luckey told me that the Feds sold one of them. Who knows? Bill has told me lots of things over the years. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." I never met Ted and only met John a couple of times. John was the kind of person the world needs more of, he will be missed by all who knew him.Two less quality people. John

More bad news. Kenny Safford, former Top Fuel dragster pilot, Drag Racing Hall of Fame inductee, and driver of several of the Mr. Norms Dodge Nitro funny cars suffered a stroke yesterday. He is in fair condition at Palos Communitee Hospital in Palos Hills IL. He was know as Big Bird by his closer friends.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." First off i want to say that i am almost sorry now that i started this thread due to the bad news that keeps pileing up.Kenny Safford is one of my mentors and heros.I worked for him for several years at Performance Auto Parts in chicago in the early 80's.The knowledge he passed on to me is unsurpassed. He was a person that was never to busy to help someone out or answer a question. He did all my machine work and taught me alot.He shared alot of his history with me also in bench racing sessions and ironically i also sustained a wrist injury similar to his.My prayers and wishes go out to him and his family.Alex if you hear anything on his condition please post or email me direct Thanks Dennis ------------------ 69 fairlane 351w 12.94@103mph before M&M.. after?? always in search of more HP and faster ET'S Fstln69 Pics Page

I've actually met Kenny Safford at Bakersfield. Hope he recovers. Very sad about John's condition, it looked pretty positive after the crash.

From off his web site: Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, Inc. Latest Updated Information: April 12, 2003 John's current condition is stable. He remains in a semi-comatose state and has recently been moved to an extended care facility near his home. The fractured 6th and 7th vertebrae of his neck have fused properly without surgery and the halo traction device has been removed. Friends and family members remain hopeful for Johns continued recovery and appreciate your ongoing thoughts and prayers.
