I am looking for some performance gains and after a good bit of thinking, I may go with this setup, but before I spend the money to do it, I want to know about how much power the engine will have, and how fast the car will run on the strip. Heres what I will have when I'm finished: 1967 mustang coupe (not sure of weight) 289 bored .030 over, recently rebuilt stock rotating assembly *comp 268h or 270h cam(which do you suggest?) holley 600 cfm 4bbl carb vac. secondaries edelbrock performer intake manifold *electric fan hooker comp headers dual exhuast w/ 3 chamber flows *exhaust cutouts (for strip) *shift kit *3.25:1 open rear end *=the stuff that I will change/add and thats it. What do you think it will run, and how much hp do you think I will have? I'm looking for as many estimations and suggestions as I can get so that I'm sure I will make these mods. Thanks

It'll run in the 16's, and probably in the high 16s with the open rear. SteveW

Even with the cam, shift kit, and rear gears? I was thinking that I would run better than that now.

Looks like a high 14, low 15s package to me. High 16s is in the stock 2 bbl, single exhaust range.------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 Please remember our sponsors, Mustangs Plus, NPD, Osborn Reproductions, MyFordPerformance.com, and FordRamAir.com

This is the weak link; *3.25:1 open rear end It'll loose about a second spinning thru first gear. SteveW

With sticky tires too, 15s, get some good gears too and make the suspension work and you may be in the high 14s. In my "limited" experience anyway. SteveW
p.s. It also needs a stall converter and better heads and intake. RPM heads and intake would really wake it up! 13s then

Just a side note Steve was with in a half of second when guessed how fast my car would run.I would work on the suspension and traction the most for now.Once you get that dailed in then start adding power. At that point you go back to the suspension and get it dailed in again. At least thats how I understand it. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

I built a similar motor for my sons first car (67 Mustang) Stock 4 brrl intake, Holley 600 vac, stock exhaust manifold, 2" dual turbo exhaust pipes, 3 speed. It ran a best of 15.20 with single traction rear, 15" street radials, and traction bars. It would do alot better with a posi, gears, and slicks. But you have to learn to stand before you learn to run. Streetstan67, I ran .03 stock 302 2bbl in my Grabber with a 2.79 open @ 15.20's. Added Comp Cams 260H and Torker II with a 600 vac with a 3.55 open (look in Mustang II's, V-6 4spd cars)Hooker Comp headers and went 14.40's. Added ported 68Gt heads + 1.94/1.60 valves. Crower solid cam, 650 mech sec carb, shift kit and 2500 rpm conv., MSD ignition and went 13.30's add 4.11 trac-lock and slicks 12.80's. My choice on the cam would take into conisder your valve train.... If it's stock non-adj. rockers "Call Comp"!!!!Go for the 3.55's (CHEAP). Electronic ignition if you don't already have it.???? 310 hp 67 Stang( hope it's a fastback)well tuned with your mods!!!! = 14.50's @ 95mph!! add 75 hp shot n2o = 13's @ 101 mph!!! Have fun?? Ask tons of ??????'s on here.------------------ Todd 71 Mav Grabber All orig 306 cu.in. Cast Iron heads. Carillo Rods.Best et. 10.71 @ 124 thru the mufflers.

I found my 3.40 gears and traclok in a 74 Mav.I paid $70 for it,and it's worked great so far. It did take a lot of looking to find it.
