Can I get rear ring and pinion gears from anybody besides summit or jegs, etc...? I mean, can I just get a ford replacement part for 8" rear end? Would napa or auto zone or the dealership have these? I dont have a 10 second car, and I want 3.40 gears; so I dont really need hardcore race gears, and they dont carry anything smaller than 3.55 anyway. THanks
How hard would it be to put these new gears in my current axle? If not, how much is installation usually?

I don't know if you can still get 3.40 gears for an 8". 3.00 and 3.55 seems to be popular.
I have a 3.40 hogshead that I may sell later....
I'll trade for a 3.80 hogshead....

I finally settled for a set of 3.25:1 posi set up, it took a long time to find and you seem to pay more for the 8 inch as compared to the 9 inch. Good luck

That calculator gives RPMs at a certain speed. I'm looking for one that will tell me differences in quarter mile times????

That doesn't exist.
There are way too many variables to accurately predict e.t.'s.
You'll need the "black top dyno" for those calculations.

Black top dyno

Just tell us which different gears.I've read about Mustangs going from 2.79 to 3.25 gears and running .40 faster in the 1/4.
