I noticed when I was taking off my headers.BTW that job sucks big time, those ****ing header bolts are so dam hard to get to. Any ways I noticed that both my heads had oil running down the side.It looks to start right where the head gasket is.Should I come up with the money to change the head gaskets,or just let it go.I think the valve seals or bad too.The spark plugs have oil on the threads only near the end not any at all near the tip of the plug. Now this may sound funny but money is real thight right now.But since I have it all apart should I change the head gasket or wait until I can get new or rebuilt heads? Thanks for the help,I know I drive most of you crazy with all the questions and long posts. I'm hoping that money will be better next year.I have taxes due this year too. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

Ron,Oil around the spark plugs didn't come from the head gaskets. It came from the valve cover gasket, or spilling while adding oil. SteveW

RON, At the point you are at now, I would swap out your head gaskets and be done with it. How much do the gaskets run you in Reno. Let me know what you need, type, numbers etc and I will price them out for you from my sources here, could be that you will save some $$$ because of exchange rates. Let me know and I will get on it right-away. John,At this rate he'll get it done next fall. 'Cause you know once you get the heads off you might as well start porting. SteveW

Thats so ture Steve ,my dad and friends just keep telling me just put thing back together. And do it right when I have the money for all new parts. Steve the oil is only at where the heads meets the block. There is not any oil above the spark plugs holes at all.So I know the valve covers are fine. The block is wet with new and old oil near numbers 2-3 and 5-6. I've been thinking abou this I think I'll just get this job done and leave well enough alone for now. I know I should do it right but I can't afford new heads'and then I'll want a new short block to go with those new heads.
