My friend's suburban had a 750 Edelbrock, and a nasty part throttle surge that we had been chasing for 4 months. Idle was great, acceleration was great, but when you were cruising in OD, you could watch feel the motor surging. If you just cracked the throttle off idle, it would start to stumble. You could watch the boosters, and no fuel would come out of them until about 20% throttle, then the motor would run like a champ. We rebuilt, adjusted floats, tuned, rebuilt, re-adjusted floats, re-re-adjusted floats, re-tuned, re-retuned until we were blue in the face. I swapped on my 750, same thing. I then bolted on the 600DP that I bought at a swap for $20, and rebuilt for my 302 for the 71 Mach, and it ran better than it ever has. Adjusted the idle mixture and speed, and off he went, smooth, powerful and no surge. I was able to hook his TCC back up for a little extra mpg. I then gathered up everything that was Carter/Edelbrock, boxed it, took it home, snapped pictures and put it on eBay. AFB...........bye bye bye!!!! I'm sticking with Holleys and Autolite / Motorcrafts from now on....

There are higher flowing boosters available for the JCC's that correct that part throttle surge. You already made the best correction anyway. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Dang your killing the market.I have finally relented an ordered a new MightyDemon 750 for the RADRIDE,(wouldnt pay the extra $120 for the Holley HP as it seems like they are very similar.)But I would like to get more than $10 for the AFB 750.I guess Ill try to unload it somehow,it is a good dependable carb.Been on car since 94 with no problems, but new heads and intake I think I have outgrown it.

Ive heard both ways & mines not a daliy driver. With a T-5 and 4.11 rear WOT seems to happen a lot.At least for 3 gears.Ordered a How-to book on tuning Demons and will keep everyone informed on how she runs.Best time with the peanut carb was 13.2 @102.Street tires and the car is set up for heavy road racing action.

Ok Alex, don't hold back.... tell us how you REALLY feel, hehe One good thing about an AFB is they don't leak like a Holley... However, I will stick with the Holley on the racecar.
