1.A wider and maybe taller street tire.Mine now are 245-60-14 8"wide tread 24.5" tallSo would a 10"wide and 26" tall street help that much more? Or would a 7" tread and 25"tall drag radialwork better then either street tire. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

Ron,Try the McCreary dirt track racing tires that Glens67 uses. I think they are made by American Racing now. I'll ask him tomorrow at the track. They are cheap and sticky! SteveW

My rear is already lifted,I have the wrong offset on my rims and they push my tires out to far.So I have to keep the car lifted.------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

I run the G-60-15 McCreary road stars on a set of chrysler cop(taxi cab)rims 15 x7.I tried these on my sisters 66 coupe and they fit perfectly.Scoop if you run a taller tire you will really notice the difference in your gearing.I have a set of BFGs( 225-70-14s)that I run on my mustang for street cruising to offset my 4:11s.they are 26 1/2 tall and I can really notice the difference. It would probably help with your traction problem by reducing the gearing but I don't think thats the way you want to go about it.The McCreary's work great by the way but I don't know if I'd want them on a daily driver.Maybe your 351 has enough torque that the taller tires won't be such an issue but I can notice it on my little 302.[This message has been edited by mustangboy (edited 02-17-2003).]

Did ya try VHT'n the tires you have? If' you're bent on sticky tires I'd go for the Goodrich or Nitto drag radials. They're more than sticky enough for your car, they're very streetable, and rolling resistance is lower than a slick. I'd also stick with 26" height or lower. ------------------ '68 mustang 351 clevor- 10.92@124 '67 Stang, 351W -11.18@118 '69 351C Torino-14.90@100 '78 Pickup 351W-15.56@88 '79 Pickup 460 ET=??

Go with the McCreary's Scoop .They are softer than the Nitto's or BFG's and will hook better. And do like the others say and stay at 26" or shorter. You dont want to take a step backwards! Bob

My car is not a daily driver.I only drive it in nice weather. The 245-60-14 at about 25" are great with my 3.40 gears.I won't go over 26"tall because like you all said I'll lose some gear. I don't spin the 8"wide tire I have to bad.Mostly just off the line about 10-20 feet of spinning.I'd like to get it to spin less then 5 feet. I do have to drive the car about 70+mile to get the drags.I was thinking about using the 205-70-14 I have for long trips. Thanks for all the help. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html
