Is there anything Ray can do to remedy that 15-20 HP drop off out of the hole? Would that be the secondaries opening? If that's what it is, would opening them later resolve that? ------------------ -Paul 70 Mach1 351C 79 Ranchero GT 97 Expedition XLT 5.4 00 SVT f150 Lightning 4149 of 4966 Born on: 06/26/2000 'life's tough... it's tougher if you're stupid.'

Steve, the HP to Dollar ratio was not the real issue. By the studs flexing not only don't you realize the full lift of the cam it also puts stress on the rest of the valve train. It will cause premature valve guide wear. When you figure how much money I have in this engine I don't want it to break at high rpms and cause a lot more damage. They were $1375.00 plus $189.00 since I had to go with a different lenght push rod. Paul, I'm not concerned with the hp loss when we punched it. We are in 4th gear. It won't do that in first gear. Bluestreek, the engine really does feel smoother especially at 6000 rpms. The noise I think it may be less but with a solid cam it's hard to say.
ALEX, DON'T YOU BE TALKING ABOUT PHILLY LIKE THAT. ME AND RESTOMAN WILL COME OUT TO CHI-TOWN AND PAY YOU A VISIT JOEY MERLINO STYLE. LOL RAY ------------------ RAY, THE WISE A@@ PHILLY GUY!! Just a word of caution on Jessel Shaft rockers for Fords. Jessel has several part numbers. In the past they (Jessel) have been somewhat confused on what FoMoCo heads are what. Anyone contemplating a Jessel shaft system should call them direct if at all possible (or have your engine builder call) and avoid buying from a mail order house/speed shop. Even then your chances are only about 50/50 of getting the correct system. We stopped using Jessel for just this reason. Three shipping charges back and forth that were consumed by me netted us a credit for close to a thousand dollars and still no rockers. We also had some roller tip quality issues that I'm told are now corrected. They were always handled very well at the track by Tom Martino personally. Mark Tallent is currently having some adjuster wear problems with his that are not attributed to lubrication. Regarless, Jessel is a quality manfacturer and provider of specialized valve train componants. They just happen to be more chebbie orientated. After our incorrect shipping issues could not be satisfied, I switched over to T&D and never looked back. I sold my all of Jessel stuff. I now have 44 or so (two engines and spares) T&D rockers and retlated parts. The only failure I have experianced has been with a broken shaft retaining stud. We use the Ultra-Lite stuff with the optional oilers. One set has over 400 runs on it and the other has only ten and dyno time. If anyone is interested in the T&D product, e-mail me and I'll put you in touch with the appropriate FoMoCO specialist at T&D.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Ray, did you make the change due to a valvetrain failure, or was it just an upgrade?I guess at low 11s too, if you can get it to hook up. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 Please remember our sponsors, Mustangs Plus, NPD, Osborn Reproductions, MyFordPerformance.com, and FordRamAir.com

Yes it's on the Blue 70 Mach1. I upgraded due to seeing a stud flex problem before there was a failure. Most calculators say the car should go 10.98 @123. That's with perfect conditions and driver. If it goes 11.30 @ 119 I would be happy. RAY------------------ RAY, THE WISE A@@ PHILLY GUY!!
