I got it all wired up,the mini volt reg that DaveC told me about.Seems to being working well.I had 14 volts at start up at idle thats neevr happen before.I had 13.7 volts with the electric fan on that better too. I test the volts at trunk and at the alt, they were with in .01 of volt. "I still need help with one thing. " Does your kill switch kill your car,as soon as you switch? Because mine will after start up,but I let it run for alittle time. And then turned the kill switch, and it took a second or two, before the car stopped. Is that right? Or do I have a bad switch? Thanks for the help,I know I really drove you all crazy on this. But it worked out real good, looks cool, works great. It charges better now then ever. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

sounds like you might have the alt wire on the wrong side of the kill switch. it has to go on the battery side of the switch.------------------ mike r racing is real everything else is just a game. 81 capri-7.51 @89mph 1/8 1.54 60 ft. http://prestage.com/site/site_display.asp?SiteID=141

Mike that is with the alt wire on the battery side. The kill switch works it just takes a second or two 1st? So should the switch kill at the moment you turn it,or dose it take a second? Maybe the switch is bad or something? ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html

sounds like you are getting some feedback from the alt somewhere. i would guess that if you rev the engine up some and cut off the switch the car would stay running. do you still have that wire running to the voltage regulator? that could be the culprit.didnt you say that the alt had a built in reg? or did i dream that!! if it does, then you can remove the wire to the reg. i think!!------------------ mike r racing is real everything else is just a game. 81 capri-7.51 @89mph 1/8 1.54 60 ft. http://prestage.com/site/site_display.asp?SiteID=141

Mike the alt is now a one wire. And the ign power wire is hooked up the starter solenoid. It seems when I kill it,and then check the volts at the solenoid they are leaking down. Not 100% dead right away?Mike so your if you kill it stops running that second?

yes, when i throw the switch the engine quits instantly. when i had my alt wire on the wrong side of the switch, the symptoms were exactly like yours. that is why i ask you about that. im lost now!! anybody else got any ideas?------------------ mike r racing is real everything else is just a game. 81 capri-7.51 @89mph 1/8 1.54 60 ft. http://prestage.com/site/site_display.asp?SiteID=141

I'm going to take the switch back to summit racing. And try a new one if that one does the same thing. Then it must in the wiring but I can't see how it could. But then again I did it all myself so who knows. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 2.26 60'S 14.9 @ 90.86MPH 65 coupe,351w,C4,Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8"3.40 TracLoc,Cragar SS,Black Suede. https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Fastymz.html
