He was happy with it's power until he rode in my Mustang
so I'm trying to talk him into a big stroker. C6 trans, 9" rear 3:1 gears. I'd guess the car weighs 4500#. I'd be looking to build something in the 480-514 ci range. What heads/cam/intake would you guys suggest? ------------------1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9"

Todd I would just buy this motor,or copy with parts they used. That a a set of 3.5 gears. He might give you a good run for your money. ------------------SCOOP

Probably a bit much; solid roller & Vic Jr. manifold in a BIG heavy car with a stock converter. It is a bad a** piece though I am looking at the 514 ci short block however. Rather than building his motor, just do the swap in a few weekends instead of the car being down for a few months. ------------------1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9"

 | posted 01-18-2003 06:10 PM You can probably scare up a set of iron SCJ heads on Ebay for less than $500.00 bucks now since they are starting to get more and more aftermarket heads for the big motors. You should be able to buy a street stroker kit from eagle or scat using the BBC 6.8 inch rods, it's a bolt in and should set you back less than a grand. Now all you need is a set of SRP flat tops an intake and some headers. Try bullet or Comp cams for a mild hydraulic. Run some good rockers ( roller ) and get some single groove manley or equivalent SS valves. The motor would make tons of torque. I think you could do it for less than $4000.00. I've never built this particular combo but I have a friend who has one in his 68 ford step side pick up and it rocks.
