Stuart {ccode67} sent this in: Also thought you may like to see a couple of pictures of the Cougar funny car that my cousin is restoring, he hopes to be finished in time for the Hot Rod reunion at Bowling Green this summer. The car was originally Ed Schartman's and then was Joel Kimmelmans, after that the history is pretty sketchy, Chris bought this car in 1989 and has been slowly gathering parts. It will be powered by a Boss 429, blown and on nitro. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 Please remember our sponsors, Mustangs Plus, NPD, Osborn Reproductions, MyFordPerformance.com, and FordRamAir.com

Thanks Steve. If anyone can help with some more history on this car or pictures, it would be greatly appreciated. The car is being restored to the '68 Ed Schartman look, it was called the Air Lift Rattler.

I was at an airshow where the Jungle Jim car had demo. The owner had a lot of pics and info on period funny cars. I will see if I can find him and put you in touch. I am in the Atlanta and would love to see your car.

Thanks, the car belongs to my cousin, he is still in the stone ages (no computer) but he would welcome any info. Welcome to M&M also. ------------------ Stuart MCA #48902 M&M #1091 67 stang 5 speed, 351W, Edelbrock Performer RPM package my photo page

Stuart VERY COOL! Nice to see another Ford (OK Merc) funny car being done. There were many shots of that car in old Super Stock magazines. I believe it was in Car Craft or Hot Rod too in 68.

Chris lives in Dallas Ga. He is still a long ways from having this car on the track, bare chassis has nothing bolted to it yet, I think the front axle and steering componets are out being chromed now, the body is in Tennesee being repaired from some previous "modifications" and the rear axle and brakes are assembled. All the engine parts are ready for machine work, then assembly (2 blown Boss 429 motors) Lots of work to do and little time until Bowling Green. He's also freshening up the suspension, brakes and 428PI in his Mustang for the Power Tour.
