My new 308 is about ready to fire up ,but I wanted to see if any of you had a specific plug in mind for it . Its a street/strip engine with flat topped pistons,`65 289 heads(about 10.2:1 compression) with 1.94/1.60 valves , Motorsport X-303 Hydrolic roller cam with 542int/542exh.lift and 224/224 [email protected] an Offy tunnel ram with 2 450 Holleys, 3800 rpm converter/Full manual c-4, 4.11 with gears in a 2,820 lb. Maverick . Also what do ya`ll think it will run in the 1/4? http://maverickgrabber.iwarp.com

Drop that down a heat range please. BF-32 is more suited to that compression ratio. I`m having trouble finding Motorcraft plugs... one guy told me the Local Dealership is the only place to get them! Do you guys know of any chain autoparts stores that carry them? I try not to deal with the dealership unless I have to,they usually have very high prices .

Both Pep Boys and Autozone stock Motorcraft. Autolite makes them for Ford but does not offer the BF-32 heat range in a standard plug. Their #45 is equivilant to a BF-42 Motorcraft. We have plenty of BF-32's on hand. The only Autolite number that is the same heat racnge as a BF-32 would be the AR-33 side gap racing plug. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Alex,i ran a 45 autolite in the fairlane, after the first time out i couldn't get any coloring in the plug after jetting so the next day i called all over hell to find a colder plug.Van senus told me that the bsf42c was colder so i ran there and got a set. After running the car and jetting some more i still couldn't get the right color (tan)on the porcolen (nice spelling sorry)i went nuts now to read this thread and find out that all that driving around was wasted because i just put the same plugs back in,right? d'oh! not really.. I looked for some online awhile back and couldn't even find them in the Motorcraft database!! They just want to sell the BF42C for just about everything. I found a ASF32C listed for a Boss 302. ------------------ 1966 Mustang Coupe: Custom glass hood and BIG scoop sits atop a 289 stroked to 331 c.i., Steel crank and girdle, 5.4 H-beams, Forged slugs, ported TFS alum. heads, ported Stealth 8020 intake, CompCams Xtreme Solid Roller, Holley 750 HP, long tubes, 4speed, 9" 3.50 posi, BFG Drag radials..

I'm running a simuliar 306. What kind of ignition are you running? I'm around 13:1 because of a big domed piston. I have 68 4v heads milled down to 50 cc. I've found that BF-22 on the streets work great. I use BF-12's @ the track.. Both are still available. The BF-32's are a projected tip and can turn into arch welders if you want to open up the gap.I buy mine @ Shucks/Kragen stores for $ 2.00 a plug.. Also with tuning your Mav should be in the 12.80's easy... Good luck !!! ------------------ Todd 71 Mav Grabber All orig 306 cu.in. Cast Iron heads.
