I`ve always liked the way all the racecars had names, years ago. One local racer had a 55 Chev SW Modified drag car, with a painting of an EXTREMLEY well endowed young lady on the door, with the name "Highly Developed" underneath. It`s been done a fair bit, but "Quarter Horse" is still a good name for a Mustang drag car. Another 65 Mustang was called the "CobraStang". Nowadays, it seems most racers are too "big time serious" to name their cars, but there is a neat 62 Corvette S/Gas car that is a teal blue-green, that is called the "Aqua-Vel VETTE". For you young`uns, back in the 60`s & 70`s, Aqua velva was a very popular aftershave lotion.

A quad city based Super Gas racer had a Colt with a BB Mopar named Filthy McNasty. I thought that was a cool name.

The Garlits Swamp Rat is the classic, but then I'm biased about that.

Sometimes the graphics that go with the name are the cool part. One of our Eddyville buddies has a Firebird tube car named Terminator II, Judgement Day. The graphic on the car is the metal skeleton hand from the movie grabbin Lenco shifter levers. Really neat! The car is a 4 second eighth mile car!

The Greek's digger is named Chizler. That one is cool too.

I wanted KV to name the 69 Horse Play, but he's not into putting much on his car. If I could think of something cool for my Falcon, I'd put it on it. Anybody got any ideas?

Both of those are great,Jungle Jim was my favorite when I was a kid.

Not to be a Kiss up, but I really like the name "MONEY MAKER" alot.It says it all.

Another local guy as "ORIGINAL SIN" on his car.I thought that was kinda cool too.

I'd put "perspective" on my car.

I realize it is not a big time drag racing name, but at a local track some years ago, this guy has a Morris Mionr with a SBC and called it Mr Magoo. It was painted a bright organe and even the cartoon Mr Magoo could hae seen it...

You probably would find a pic or 2 of "Vulgar" on Cordovas web page. It is a brute. A 62 Impala bubble top with a 500 plus inch stack injected BB and a Lenco. Its painted flat black with red and orange flames.

There are also a couple of Novas that run at Cordova, one called Looney Toons and the other Dirty Dancer. I liked those names too.

Great topic!

For my money, it's tough to beat the "Motown Missle."

70's funny cars were great too with Gene Snow's "Snowman," Ed McCollouch's
RREEVVEELLution," Schumacher's "Wonder Wagon," "The Boston Shaker," Lew Arrington's "Brutus," Muldowney's/Kalitta's "Bounty Hunter," etc.

I like "Bad Company" I was going to put "Dark Horse" on mine maybe I dunno. I knew a guy who had a ,65 Stang that ran a 671 blower and no hood. he called it the "Headless Horseman" I never got that since he was supposed to be the horse man and the car was the horse. Anyway, it had some cool graphics on the side of a devil horse with a headless rider, just like in that movie that came out a few years back. It was wicked looking.

My 68 Fastback does have Bad Company on the doors, also PALE HORSE from the book of Rev. "And behold there comes a pale horse, and he that sits upon him is death, and Hell follows with him". Pretty good description of a drag racer, I think.

Out here there is a car called "The Other Woman"...I always thought that was pretty fitting for a race car.

Although I've never painted a name on my car, my Dad has refered to it as "Vicious" for the last 10 or so years. I guess if I were ever to paint a name on it that would be it.

Years ago, a Crapmaro with candy painted stripes on a white body had "Candy Coated" painted on the side, on the hood scoop was a picture of playmate Candy Loving. This was around 1979 or 1980.

Another local had "Asphalt Hooker" on his.

Another was "Good Vibrations"

Also a 67 Mustang coupe with "Persuader" on it, he was track champion several years, now owns a nightclub called Persuaders.

Yep, "Filthy McNasty" was a good one, ('cept it was a Dodge Daytona), and I always liked the "Vulgar Display of Power Car". I always wanted to paint a car pure black, with no chrome at all on it, and if it was fast enough to justify it, call it "Touch of Evil". Or, one that I always thought would go good on a racecar I drove since I seem to have a knack for gettin under people's skin at the racetrack (dont know why ), "Corruption Inc." This is my favorite. We saw it in Aruba. I laughed so hard when we saw it in the pits. And THEN it ran . . . and it was pretty darn fast. The driver of that car was the best "driver" (staging technique, launch, etc.) we saw there.

Have to cogitate that one a while.

Yeah, some of the old school imports can be built well if the builder knows what he's doing. I try to watch the autocross races every now and then and there are some hardcore 510s and TRDs out there that run some pretty good times. I saw an old Toyota Starlet with a 4AG (MR2) motor one time that beat everyone's time. And it indeed sounded like an angry bee.
