I found today the noise I have been hearing isnt the tranny itself, it's the mount on the crossmember. The mount isnt in very good shape, and the driveshaft is rubbing on the safety loop when the nose of ths car is a foot off the ground. It didnt help matters any that the bolts werent tight either, but the mount is still not in what I owuld consider very good shape. I looked at Energy Suspension's site, and they dont list a trans mount for the older mustangs.

NAPA carries the best stuff that is readily available Rob. That's what I use on MM. I replace mine every year.
The Energy Suspension unit is too tall for the early cars. We use them on Tony's car and the convert. Their new cataloge shows it to fit, but it will only work if you lower the crossmember.

Rob I tried one of the energy mounts and could not get the trans to sit right.
It was too tall, just like I someone said it would.

Bet you're glad you didn't have to tear into the tranny a second time! At least the noise caused you to freshen the tranny and you found the small problems before they became bigger ones.
