Racing at Mission for the final race of the season, several cars from Alberta showed up for the race as their season is done. A couple of nice looking 5.0 Mustang race cars showed up. Both running Manual G Force trans (pretty $$$) One car pops a slick, a buddy checks out the car with the tires off, only to find NO REAR BRAKES!!!! The car has a mega buck Mark Williams modular aluminum housing, with aluminum case with a "drop out" chunk which uses 12 bolt gears (less drag), scalloped axles, the works! except for No Rear Brakes! Naturally Tech was notified (would you want this guy crashing into YOUR car?), & he was given the boot. Joe "crew chief" gets into the tech guys face about how the car has 13" front brakes, & Quote: "Stops on a Dime!!" with 15x3" rims & skinny front runners, yeah , RIIIIGHT! The Tech guy asks,WHY would you build a car this way, the response:Less rotating weight! I mean, the car has big money in the trans & rearend, how much wieght would a pair of Mark Willians carbon fiber brakes add? The car supposedly runs low 10`s@130mph, so it`s not like he`s trying to set a record in Comp.!(Shakes head in disbelief)------------------ 78 Fairmont 428 4 speed 10.20@130mph 80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph 85 Mustang NHRA Stocker under construction, 302 5 speed 59 Meteor (Canadian Ford) 2 dr sedan 332, auto 74 F350 ramp truck 390 4spd

Been there and done that Rory. My car doesn't have any rear brakes either. But my dad also drives EXTREMELY careful, more so around town and people. They will be getting fixed this winter. ------------------ Max -1989 Mustang GT (MaxTang) 225/50R15 tires BBK Strut Brace Member 1,861

they fixed it for today, scared up some wrecking yard drums and plumbed rear lines. Car did run 10.30 with a pretty ordinary looking 5.0 EFI engine. I still can't imagine having NO brakes out back, even a pair of go-cart discs would satisfy the rules.
