The carb I put on runs good and smooth.Seems alittle weaker then the carter I took off.I have no bog at all now anywhere in the rpm range.
I changed the Vac,2ndary spring to the yellow one, from the purple one.I cant notice any difference.SHould I keep going liter on the spring until it bogs.
I got a stub stack for it,I cant say i see any improvement at all.I'm going to try and get it to the drags on the 5th.I'll run it both with and without the stub stack. That will tell me more.
My car dose run more smooth, but seems to have less power then before.Less wheel spin with new carb. But it seems to pull harder in the 3000-5000+ rpms range.
Any advice or tips,I'm kinda lost now on the carbfor now.Being new to holleys I'm not sure what will make it pull better from 1000-5000+.

Don't worry if it doesn't feel as quick. Sometimes smooth is quicker even if it doesn't feel like it. Some of the changes you are doing are things that you can't really tell if it improved unless you take it to the track. Seat of the pants doesn't mean much. ETs tell the story.

Well I kinda did,I had to get a new base for my air cleaner so my air filter still sat in the place on my scoop.

Steve I'll go look at some of the plugs tonight. And let you know.

Ben your right, the car seems so much more smooth it's like a diffenrent car.Between shifts it loses less rpm.And it rev's faster now too.At least it seems to.

I went out and check most of the spark plugs.I got to 6 of them #1,3-4-5-7-8.They all were dark brown kinda like chocolate color on the electrods and the porcelian. The first two treads all had black soot. The number 7 plug was real dark, and had little chucks of hard deposits around the top of the treads. They would break up but seemed real gritty.

They have never been that dark brown before. The soot was there before.

Ron,

Try 2-4 jet sizes smaller and an even lighter spring. Get it to bog then use the next heaviest spring in the kit. Your secondaries aren't coming in 'til the upper rpms! Gotta get them to open sooner.

Wow 2-4 smaller jets I only have 63 pri,and the meter plate is a 73.Should I change both the meter, plate and the pri, jets or just the pri jets? I'll take your advice Steve I'll do the jets, just let me know on the meter plate,if it needs to come down too.
And I have to go get a lighter spring the yellow was the lightest one I had.
