6111-1's the #2 primary hits the shock tower damn it~damn it~damn it. I gently 'massaged' (ahem) the tube a bit, now the sob fits. Just barely, however... as the motor torques in the bay, I'm worried about it hitting. Not only that, it'll probably burn the freshly painted tower Any sugestions? You pay almost five bills for a set of headers, you expect them to fit

Send them back and try another set . If they still won,t clear , send them to a machine shop , and , see if they can re-bend them a little bit to get the fit you want . Don't send them back. That is the most rediculous thing that I have ever heard. They will laugh you all the way back to Mexico! Make up a good torque strap and bolt it to the left side of the engine. That will keep your motor from moving around.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator/ non 65-66 Mustang owner sensitivity co-ordinator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Part time secret agent license #0089 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl

When you pay for something , and , don,t get what you pay for ( Bad fitting headers ), why is it ridiculous to send them back ?

I concidered that John... I'm thru being patient Alex~ I thru-bolted both motor mounts with 1/2" bolts, as diagramed in a Mustangs Plus mailer. I thought it was a great idea. Would a torque strap yank the threads out of a aluminum head ? Heli-coil first, maybe?[This message has been edited by V8 Thumper (edited 08-11-2002).]

Make a 1/4 inch plate that utilizes two bolt holes in the front of the head, sort of like a triangle, use the third hole of the triangle to bolt your Torque strap to. it can be made to look decent and not too big. Hope this helps.

Look in the photo archives Todd. There should be some good pics of MM's engine with a plate similar to what Jerry is discribing. The threads in the aluminum head will hold the torque strap just fine. John, Hooker headers fit fine. They unfortunatly cannot maufacture a header to fit every block that has been decked and every head that has been milled. They build a header that fits a specific stock engine and head in a specific car. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator/ non 65-66 Mustang owner sensitivity co-ordinator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00, '01, & '02 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Part time secret agent license #0089 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl

Todd sound like you need to send the Motor and headers to me.And start all over,I know that I'm going out of my way here, but hey what are friends for. I saw a guy using a heavy ground wire looked like a 2guage,as a torque over strap. He said it ground the block to the frame and stopped the motor from moving. SCOOP

They're in my '65 coupe. Like Alex said, tough for any manufactuer to make 'em fit every car. My block has been decked, and I'm running aftermarket heads that are suposedly identical in dimension to stockers, but I swear they've got more girth which would explain some clearance issues.
I don't think they hang too low... I'll just take the speedbumps nice and easy

My super comps. are now on.Im running AFR-185 heads. Had to lift both sides of engine to fit and massage #2 primary. But after all the trouble they are easier to bolt to the head than the comps. and the Z-bar was fun.Now that its running I do like the way they look in the engine conpartment.Speed bumps are always fun with front of car down 3inches and the back down 2.5 inches.
