The original contest was delayed by a slight set back when the main bearings went south on it's second run. The bearing manufacturer says inadequate lubrication. Anyway it's back in Melissa's car and ready to rumble (tomorrow) next first race on Memorial day. So it's still on, here are the specs again, only this time around the compression is bumped to 12.1-1. We'll need 45 days after the first et post before we decide what it'll run "dialed in" Although it'll probably run better next winter when the D/A improves. I've been saving my lunch money and just about have enough saved to cover the payoff now. Soo don't worry about my financial security.

45 days? hmmm... we have covered the spectrum from 10.30's to 11.10 pretty fully , i think unless we gotta split the prize when two guessers are .03 off , i am gonna guess 11.11 and cover myself in case nobody guesses a higher number... i think it could go 10.50's, but it's not as easy as that, 11.1 within 45 days, 10.5 soon after

10.39 and I think it would be faster with more cam & carb.....I have a friend that was running a 373W stroker, with a C4. Best time was a 9.98. It was a white 86 GT with the name Stalker on the door. I think the weight was a little less though. The driver wasn't the tuner. The engine tuner was one of the best that I personaly know, that used to be a funny car driver in the 70's. It also had a high dollar 950 BG carb. The intake was port matched. They sent the intake to Champion to get it ported and the car slowed. Not one of the runners were the same, so they replace it. The car would run 10.00's all day long.

Rob, It'll be cash. Ben, Wait Larry, Tha Dart's already got Edel RPM heads. Good enough for now, just gotta get ride of that lime green paint. MM, How about at Sears Point's new track? Erik, Yep TomP, Yeah I agree. Buster, Yes sir a bigger cam and springs is next. But it's my 19 year old daughter's car and we have slowly progressed from an 18 second ride to the 11's so far. The car felt slow to her the last time out so that's my signal to pump things up a bit. Eventually she wants to drive a RED, but I tell her she'd better get a good job after college or marry right. Everyone,
I fired the new motor up this afternoon. Lit on the first crank, 60#s of oil pressure idling/65#s at 3000rpm warm with 10-40 dino oil. Gotta tune it and set the valve lash tomorrow and put some road miles on it. First race on Monday Memorial day at SearsPoint. I'll post the first numbers and then the predictions will be cast in stone. The first numbers will be break-in runs with the timing laid back and the carb "out of the box" and shifting at only 6200 etc. Thanks for playing! SteveW

Yeah Rob, She had the guy but thought she might break out and lifted. He was dialed 11.11 and she was dialed 11.00 and she ran a 11.20 @ 115 mph, he ran 11.29 something. He won by a .005 mov. She'll get it and she's a fast learner! She's just not used to the new car like she was with the 351 version. But she's only got 4 runs on it so far... These guys are a lot more competition than HS. This is the "no box class" here in div 7, 10.0 - 15.99. The box class is "pro et" here. SteveW

They allow that at Sacramento Raceway on T&T so the street racer's don't tip people off to what their car will run. SteveW

Hey Guys,No, i'm not a street racer, seriously. I just don't wanna show an embarassing run . I know there are a lot of $hit talkers in the scene (around my area) and I know that would push me to spend way more money than I expect. As much as possible i'm trying to do this with my dad for FUN! SteveW, you know i'm still learning and honestly, i'd just like to build something that will last. Hearing these stories about breaking at the track makes me not want to even run, to be honest. No offense to all you guys, I know it happens. I guess i'm not used to seeing internal engine parts break. I also don't wanna pour my paychecks into all this as I plan to tie the knot and buy a house all within the next year and a half. The second time out the conditions were very hot and slippery. 11.30's were the best, next w/e we'll run it uncorked and jetted up a bit. It was a little lean (three grey threads on the plugs) with it corked and with little 2 1/2" pipes. The best so far was the first outing 10.978, but I have a weird feeling we'll be able to better that. SteveW
