My 68 mustang with 351w has an aluminum radiator in it, but it get hot 230-240 degrees when I sit in line to get into the track, and in traffic. A couple of people said it was to small. I was thinking of just buting a stock one for the car, since money is a little tight. But as we all know they didn't put windsor's in 68's so should i buy the one for a 302 or the one for a 390??

How about some more info? Such as,

What kind of radiator you currently have mounted?

Do you have a fan mounted on the water pump or electric fans?

Are you running smaller than stock pulleys?
Are you running a thermostat or not?

Using antifreeze?

Does the radiator keep the engine cool at 30mph or less?

all i know is that it is an aluminum radiator, it has a fan hooked up to it, it is a puller but it really doesn't help. it has stock pulleys.

A stock radiator wont cool as well as an alimunum unless the alum radiator is really small. I would put a big electric fan on it.

As for antifreeze, we had a big argument (most of the time we have discussions, but not this one) about that awhile back , so, I will keep my opinion on that to myself.

Kid, I take it you aren't an anitfreeze guy? Not going to argue the point either except to say it does stop rust from building up which is a radiator killer.

If the car stays cool while you are driving it, I would see if any of your buddies has an electric fan to try on it. Also, check and see if you have maybe a low pressure rated radiator cap? I think it should be in the 12-15 psi range.

Sure not

I do run an anti-rust and water pump lube though. My radiator cap is rated at 23-25 lbs. Ok, so maybe it's overkill.
