friend of mine works in a police garage and got me a free electric fan out of a crown vic cruiser. the vic runs a factory 90 amp alternator, my 67 has the standard 60 amp. alternator/starter shop says i shouldnt have a problem running it because i dont have a/c, big stereo, or any power options. right now im having a slight clearance problem between the nose of the water pump and the fan motor.....about 1/4 inch. i can do a little cutting and welding and make it work with a pepboys thermostat switch. has anybody tried this and is it worth the trouble?

If you can do it for little money and undo anything you change.Go for it the car will be cooler at idle, and you'll free up some power too.

well, ok. i will have to cut into that sheetmetal behind the grill where the original radiator bolted up to get the 1/4-1/2 inch i need to clear the nose of the water pump. i figure if i cant get a decent 60 ft time, i'll just power my way to a 7 second pass. something has to give.
