Today I found what looks like oil in my coolant overflow tank. And no coolant in the oil. Were do you guys think its coming from? The still runs the same at 180 to 195.Still seems to pull hard all the up the rpms.Is it the head gasket or intake. The intake gasket is only 6mo old. There are no vacuum leaks or any oil coming out of the intake. The plugs are dark tan with oil around the treads, been that for 4 years now.

I dunno if a 351W can crack like this, but my truck's 428 cracked an oil passage that feeds the heads, it cracked way down in the block near the cam bearings, inside the water jacket, behind the bore so you can't see it. It needed to be sleeved to fix it, and it still gets a bit of oil in there. It won't hurt anything, just softens the rad hoses so they have to be replaced sooner.

Thanks Tom,While I'm not happy to hear it may be cracked.I was hoping for a gasket to be the cause. But being as though the re's only oil in the coolant and no coolant in the oil.It seens that a crack some were would be likely.I f it is cracked should I have it fixed right away or keep driving it for awhile? any one else have any ideas. Thanks for the help Ron

Flush the cooling system and check it again. You may have an intake gasket problem I suspect.

If its the head gasket.I'd like to just take the motor out and rebuild it myself.I dont have the kind of money it takes to buy a crate motor.I cant afford to take it to some one to have it built.Have any of you done a rebiuld your selfs using good parts. And doing as much as possible yourself. How much do you think I could build the motor for.Doing a simple rebuild with new rings and some head porting. As little money as possible.Thansk Ron
