last time at the strip i had 6 passes. twice in the box i had only one tire burn. for years my axle guy has been telling me that im gonna burn up that trac loc and i should stay out of the water. you cant heat the tires dry, wheelhop already killed one pumpkin. if it aint broke i dont fix it, especially on my budget. ive got one guy telling me to get a spool but i have to drive it on the street. my axle man is saying get a detroit locker and do a dry hop to get both tires on the same page when i launch. can i drive around on a spool? if not, then is a dry hop necessary? ive always heard a dry hop (after burnout)is not good because it takes away your best bite on launch. ive been fighting launch demons all year, ive tried everything. will the detroit be noticable better than my trac-loc? ------------------ 67 coupe, 650dp and rpm intake on 5.0 with afr 165 heads, 4 speed, 4.11's.....best so far is [email protected] in 1/8 mile with 1.79 60ft. time.

I love my Detroit locker. I works good on the street and the track. In the burnout box, it's locked. On the launch, it's locked. Turning on the street, it's not locked, unless you try to excellerate. Then hold on. If you excellerate in a turn, it locks!

Oh, yeh. About doing the dry hop after the burn out. It ain't needed. If it wasn't locked after that burn out, then it's broke.

the thing is not so much to do a dry hop as not to steer, if you try and straighten or move the car over you'll unlock the Detroit Locker and can have problems. If you had to steer then a dry hop might be needed.Tom
