wed. night i was still running my double nutted bolt on the front of my slappers for some facade of tunability. talked to the Ford god of this region (he actually spoke to me!) about my 60 ft. problems. he used to run super stock with a 428 68 fastback and 4 speed toploader back in the old days. he runs a machine shop now. anyway, he says the bolts are kinda stiff no matter where you set them and i should try putting the rubber snubbers back on to take some of that shock out thats spinning my wheels. the smallest chip on my 2 step set is the 5000, and the spotter says my tires spin about 3 times when i launch. the tach drops from 5000 to 3000 when i release the clutch right now. an attempt to launch any lower would drop it below 3000 and that is bog city with this cam. my question is does the rubber snubber soften the hit on the tires more than a bolt that adjusted all the way up till its touching the spring eye? pinion shims are gone for good, took me all summer to figure out they were too much.

I'd think the rubber bumpers would be better too.

Chip,

I forget, do you have jet extensions or have you raised the float level in the rear bowl yet? That could be part of your bog....

steve, with that 2 step there aint no more bog...now theres more than i know what to do with. i think taking the bolts out helped, it didnt hurt thats for sure. the pinion shims arent missed either. was experimenting tonight with feathering the clutch out off the line at 5000 on the 2-step. it seemed to be working, getting me into the low 1.80's but the car would not go into 3rd gear after i found a grove so i had a bad night. i dont know if its the d@mn hurst shifter clips or thos rings in the trans that are supposed to slow the gears down when you shift. either way, the night was shot.

That's cool Chip,

Time for some more lower rpm chips. You'll find the sweet spot. Good luck and keep us informed, if you need a Hurst Comp Plus shifter let me know.
