I have to check in the morning for a broken motor or tranny mount, if that checks or I fix it I will be out there to hopefully get some better numbers (I'm gonna hot lap the sucker I think ) .------------------ Tim one lucky BASTARD! 600 miles is nothing when you own a Mustang :) M&M Member #35 1965 Mustang coupe, 200 I6, Holley 2300, Clifford header, true duals w/ 26" Smithys 1988 Mustang GT AOD vert, 15.810 @ 88.871 mph 100% stock w/ no traction 1976 Silverline Comoro 18' trihull ski boat, 188 hp 302 I/O, another toy http://all.at/mustang https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/I65Stang.html

I've been having the itch so as long as I dont find something really bad tomorrow morning (more than a broken mount) I will be out there. I am gonna bump the timing and pull the air silencer too and look at the feasibility of pulling the belt right before the run at Sac.------------------ Tim one lucky BASTARD!

Motor and tranny mounts are good, air silencer is out, and timing is bumped up (was set at 8). I'm trying to get my bro to come along so he can pull the belt right before I run but we'll see. I think I will grab some ice while I am at it too (ice the intake of course). Woohoo, Im going racing .------------------ Tim one lucky BASTARD! 600 miles is nothing when you own a Mustang M&M Member #35 1965 Mustang coupe, 200 I6, Holley 2300, Clifford header, true duals w/ 26" Smithys 1988 Mustang GT AOD vert, 15.810 @ 88.871 mph 100% stock w/ no traction 1976 Silverline Comoro 18' trihull ski boat, 188 hp 302 I/O, another toy http://all.at/mustang https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/I65Stang.html [This message has been edited by I65Stang (edited 09-22-2001).]

Was fun Tim,The "code of the road" is in effect, right. At least both vehicle's are still running and Brian has his first 10 sec time slip. SteveW

Tim,I'd rather do a heater core than a rear end replacement. I'd ask your dad about a warranty. SteveW

Not me Steve . Lets see, about 6 weeks ago I swapped the rears out of the '88 and I hate those setups . I would do the work on it if it was still my dads anyhow so that wont work .------------------ Tim one lucky BASTARD!

Yeah, how did it go, Steve? What kind of times were you able to get with the new setup? I would think Mel took it easy, seeing as how the last couple of trips out to the track things were breaking left and right. Did she push it at all, or was it more of a 70 to 80 percent type of trip to the track? If you had her hold back a bit, then times obviously don't matter right now, so I guess it's more of her getting used to a different setup before she rips off a run of 100% effort. Heh heh heh...maybe you should do a little street test and tune, eh? Stewart

Mike & Stew,Yeah she launched real easy, the first time I had her drive it off the line. The 2nd and 3rd times we launched at 2500rpm on the two step. The 60'ers were 2.08, 1.83, 2.04. She needs to get used to the B&M ripper shifter too. It's throw is real short and the gates are stiff, plus the t-handle is only about 4" off the floor. We're thinking of lengthening it, but she thinks she can get used to it. Anyway the results with light launching and granny shifting were 13.1s, off about .6 seconds from her previous best. But the GOOD news is we got to drive it onto the trailer afterwards. It's been 6 weeks since it made it down the track last (before the tranny swap) We'll hit it harder next weekend, now that we're getting some confidence back. SteveW

Hey Steve, I actually lowered my best et by .01 but the mph on that run was still down over 1.5 (that was the blow up run) . The track prep and new tires sure did help with 60s in the 2.3-4 range.------------------ Tim one lucky BASTARD!

I still can't get my car to the track, not for a lack of trying though. I got the new clutch in and working. The new alternator(100amp) went in this past week but I still had a short somewhere. Found the short (or one of them anyway) yesterday when smoke started coming out of the wiring and I needed a tow to get it home. I'll be making a new harness this week. I'm getting closer and poorer with every day that passes.[This message has been edited by JAAZZY (edited 09-24-2001).]

Hey I wish I would have caught this post a little sooner. I hope to be up at Sacramento Raceway for the next grudge fest. Doesn?t look like there will be another one until next month. I will have some time to fix that cracked oil pane. What a fun job!!------------------ Richard 65 Mustang 351W, 5 Speed.

Richard,I didn't see you out there today. It was a good day for us, Melissa is getting used to the 5sp and I'm learning how to set up the car. It's like starting all over again on the learning curve. The car's best in the afternoon heat was a 12.623 @ 108.6 mph. She went 4 rounds in Sportsman (against the "big" boys) It was a jackpot race and the two classes were Pro (electronics cars) $30, or Sportsman (no electronics) $20. They had a 1st round buyback, but Mel didn't need it. They were smart about the buyback too, if you bought back you had to race other 1st round loosers for the oportunity to compete in the second round. In other words no one was allowed in the second round that hadn't won a race.
Tim, Hope you're having fun in Oregon. But. not too much fun. SteveW
