Well, where do I start? Three weeks ago, right before the Summernationals, I realized I had a cracked cylinder. I took a block down to the shop to get sleeved (it was the block I started the year with that cracked). OK, I can deal with a couple of weeks of a wounded bullet.
This week the car was about as consistent as a shotgun at 200 yards. I got so desperate I even changed jets right before the first round of elims trying to find some consistency somewhere. Not much luck, I lost in the second round of top(redlite) and the third round of mod, the car kept slowing down. To top it off, the car developed a severe vibration when I would lift after the finish line.
I took the motor out today, 2 cylinders are cracked. I am supposed to pick up the other block tomorrow. I have decided that I am going to fill it with Hard Blok even though it has been bored. I have to try something, this is getting very old.
I pulled the carrier out after discovering some ugly noises coming from there. I have three teeth on the pinion gear that are broke. Actually two that are broke, and one that is gone. Now I have to order a new pro gear and get that installed too. Plus I have a brand new Holley 350 fuel pump that I should put on this week but it seems to be of the least concern right now. And the front brakes need new pads.

I know it has to get better, either that or I am going to run out of parts. (or money)
I am really hoping that by filling this block it will take care of cracking cylinders till I can get some better parts bought.
I thought the gear felt "strange" last year and I pulled it out this past winter. But everything looked fine then. I put 4 1/2 seasons with an average of 185-200 passes a year on this gear. So I guess I got my moneys worth out of it.

Hans,

Nope, it cracked number 3 and number 8. The first one I cracked this year was number 5.

Given the fact I have broken lots of parts, I am still in tenth place in Top ET, and in seventh in Mod ET. So......... I get a motor that will stay healthy the rest of the year I can make my move to the top in both classes. And I am very confident the Hard Blok will accomplish that for me.
