Hey Guys.I was wondering if any of you have heard or run across anything like this; My brother-inlaw(just turned 16 4 mths ago) runs in the street div. at his track, with a '83 Capri with a 351w,3.25 gears and street slicks. He's turning 7.6s in 1/8 . Here's the problem, the track owner wants to limit his dial-in to 8.00 . His reason:"you're intimadating the other street racers". What's ya's oppinion ???

Utter stupidity on the part of the track operator! Why would he want to inhibit anyone's ability to perform well? That's what drag racing and motorsports is all about! ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member NHRA and IHRA SS/LA national record holder Fleet of FoMoCo products Moneymaker Bio US Class Nationals link

Yep,He's only running street to get some expierance before going into footbrake. Now we may be in the same boat,we're replacing the cleveland for a 351w that ran 8.04's in a Fairlane last year and we are hoping that Anita will be able to drive it into the 7's in our '70 coupe.

Get a 2 X 4 about 3 feet long and soak it in oil so it won't bend or splinter when you hit the track owner up side the head with it! The whole point of "racing" is to be the fast/quick one, this is the dumbest thing I've heard this year and that covers some big ground!

That does suck Perk! Our Street and HS divisions are 12.0 & slower classes, 1/4mi. Do they have a 8.0 and slower rule for street at this 1/8mi track? Maybe they are nervous about a 16 year old with 4 mos. driving experience running that quick? But then why didn't they just say it? Besides that, intimidation in bracket racing comes from winning multiple rounds week after week, not by being quick. SteveW

I ran a black Camaro once that was trying to be "intimidating"...lol...eh Doc? Didn't work though...I REFUSE to be intimidated!!! I don't care who or what I'm lined up against, I go to the track with an "I'm the guy to beat" attitude...even if my car sucks and I haven't raced in months. I WILL NOT allow myself to be beat in the pits, staging lanes or water box....I race the tree and the track. I welcome my opponents to try anything that takes them out of "their game" to get me out of mine....LOL. My good friend Curt said it best...I don't have enough space in my head to be giving away free rent...lol, I look at being intimidated as giving away free space in my head....it's not gonna happen. ------------------ Butch 460 powered 1967 Comet Cyclone 10.271 @ 130.069 Butcher's Home Page "Friends don't let friends drive Chevys"

I do remember that poor kid in the black sewer scooter, and another black one with the big pro motor that'd pit and then look to see if you were there, and he'd go home without making a pass if he saw you. Good thing you weren't running at the track this thread is about.

I would definately take my money and car and race at another track. That is a bunch of crap. Our street class is limited to street legal cars with novice drivers. Otherwise, it's 0 to 99.99 if you want. They did say something to me when I was running in the 7's last year because I didn't have a roll bar and had t-tops. They wanted me to stay 8.00 and slower but it had nothing to do with intimidating anyone. As for coming to the Farm, We would love to have one more Ford at the Farm. I am the only one with a capri though. Maybe, I might be ok with that, Shell ladyracer

Hi kattyKat........ I think if him and his family change tracks,it will probally be to Bristol. The kid has got expierance running faster than what he's doing now.He drives his older brother's 6 sec. car in T/T on Friday nites. Now KK and Shell,,,,,,,, I get our new engine next week and will most likely try it out at this track next weekend.BUT....after that we will be coming to The Farm most weekends. !perk!

i understand telling some one to slow it down if he does not have the appropriate safety gear but imo this is not the case here.I think in this instance if it were me i would continue running my own way and if a problem arose i would be asking to see where it is written prohibiting me from running the way i was running. This is just my opinion but if a 17 year old can run top fuel why cant a 16 year old run7's in the 1/8th ------------------ Ed Heart mods:Trick High flow titanium valve ported & polished Listen close: "tic tic tic" No folks thats not a noisy lifter thats the sound of big flow! 1984 5.0L LX Conv 3600 lbs 13.41 at 101.89 SIR http://ragtopjr.hypermart.net/ http://ragtop-racing.stangnet.com/ http://mbmustangs.tripod.com/index.htm

A 17 year old can't drive a Top Fuel car....you must be 18 to get licensed in a Pro catagory. I understand your point though.

My Motto is Never Say Never. Maybe I will strike it rich and can travel the world and race wherever I want. In my Dreams.. (you know those hrs during 8-5 when we're suppose to be 'workin") I race on the professional circuit and get to see the world... LOL In real life.. Maybe one day....Sigh... Ken put a 351W in my car this year. I seen low 7.teens when it was not hot and humid as hades. Otherwise I run 7.30's usually.. Shell Ladyracer

Well everyone,we finally got something from the track operator on this subject. It seems he has a written rule in his track rule book that is not very well read, that states: "street cars,8.00 and up. Now I had a copy of his track rules at the begining of the year and I don't recall seeing that rule. Of course I don't have "the book",we were only given certain pages. So I apologize for jumping the gun on this subject with out having all my facts.Shell,we will most certainly look you and KK up in about 2 weeks. perk

I wanna run "0" !
5 hours away? and you'll never meet... thats the local track for many folks. I went to Ashcroft (4hrs away) last weekend, the closest track is one hour, beyond that any others are 3 or more.

I guess we must be really spoiled because there are four tracks less than an hour from us. Home track is only about 5 miles away. But I know what you mean by traveling to get another track. We have many guys from VA that race our track. What amazes me is most people drive past one the other tracks to come race down at The Farm, Right KK?Shell ladyracer
